Carlsbad Fire Wildland Operations will be conducting a prescribed burn on February 11th and 12th. This is an effort to mitigate a huge Wildland Urban Interface concern. Don’t be surprised if you see smoke in the middle of town. The Burn will be in the area of Lower Tansill to Radio Blvd/Boyd Dr. Extensive precautions have been made to ensure that fire will stay within the prescribed areas. If you are driving on Canal St. near La Tienda, San Jose near the Avalon Apartments, Fiesta between Canal and San Jose, or Boyd near the Cemetery, PLEASE USE CAUTION. There will be fire apparatus in those areas, along with firefighters on foot. Due to the smoke, low visibility may be present. We also ask that people stay away from the Prescribed Burn Area. We don’t want any of the public finding themselves in a dangerous area that could put themselves or firefighters at risk.

Lastly, we ask that drones stay out of the area. If air resources are needed, they can’t fly if drones are in the air.
