Today is Braeleigh’s 12th birthday 💛

She has been a recipient of the Joe Ebner Scholarship for the past four years, and each summer she travels from rural Kentucky to San Diego for what has become the highlight of her year.

Braeleigh has undergone more than 30 surgeries in her young life, and she has her next surgery scheduled just a week after this upcoming weekend in San Diego. Despite everything she carries, she shows up with joy, excitement, and a love for life that is truly unforgettable.

Her favorite moments are simple ones—beach bonfires, being with the other kids, and boogie boarding alongside the lifeguards.

She is an incredibly strong young girl with a big heart, and we are so grateful to celebrate her today.

A special surprise arrived at ConnectMed! 📚💙

We recently received a generous donation of approximately 15–20 copies of Save the Ocean by ✨ Bethany Stahl, a children’s author, illustrator, and advocate who openly shares her experiences as a nuerodivergent creator and individual living with chronic illness. We’re excited to share these books with the children and families we serve.

The only mystery? We don’t know who sent them!

Registration is now open for Camp Cosmos 2026: Mardi Gras at the Beach! 🎭🌊

Join us for a FREE weekend of connection, community, and fun designed specifically for medically complex youth and their families. Whether you participate virtually or in person, you’ll have the opportunity to connect with other families, access valuable resources, enjoy engaging activities, and create lasting memories.

💻 Virtual Camp: July 18 | 11 AM–1 PM (PST)
🏖️ In-Person Camp: July 19 | 10 AM–1:30 PM (PST) at Kellogg Park, La Jolla Shores

Activities include beach and lawn games, ocean safety and boogie boarding with lifeguards, facilitated support groups, special guests, refreshments, and more!

💜 No cost to attend, but registration is required.

Meet a treasured San Diego resource for ConnectMed families! The Foundation for Developmental Disabilities (FDD) funds non-profits with high-impact programs that improve quality of life and promote inclusion. FDD is building a community that supports diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDDs) in San Diego and Imperial Counties.
ConnectMed is thrilled to be a beneficiary of this incredible organization and had the chance to speak at their recent non-profit showcase at the San Diego Air & Space Museum.
FDD has four pillars - Employment, Family Support, Housing, and Self-Advocacy—which form the foundation of FDD’s mission to enhance the lives of individuals with I/DDs and their families through targeted, community-driven solutions.
Funding from FDD improved our year-round therapeutic, inclusive programs by:
-Removing cost barriers

-Strengthening the Therapeutic Team

-Supporting Year-Round Programming

-Creating Inclusive, Culturally Responsive Spaces

Thanks to funding from FDD, more families can access Camp Cosmos programs regardless of their financial situation. Because every child deserves a place where they truly belong.
