Meet a treasured San Diego resource for ConnectMed families!  The Foundation for Developmental Disabilities (FDD) funds non-profits with high-impact programs that improve quality of life and promote inclusion.   FDD is building a community that supports diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDDs) in San Diego and Imperial Counties.
ConnectMed is thrilled to be a beneficiary of this incredible organization and had the chance to speak at their recent non-profit showcase at the San Diego Air & Space Museum.
FDD has four pillars - Employment, Family Support, Housing, and Self-Advocacy—which form the foundation of FDD’s mission to enhance the lives of individuals with I/DDs and their families through targeted, community-driven solutions.
Funding from FDD improved our year-round therapeutic, inclusive programs by:
-Removing cost barriers

-Strengthening the Therapeutic Team

-Supporting Year-Round Programming

-Creating Inclusive, Culturally Responsive Spaces

Thanks to funding from FDD, more families can access Camp Cosmos programs regardless of their financial situation.  Because every child deserves a place where they truly belong.

Behind every dream realized at ConnectMed is a community of consistent and generous supporters who believe in the power of connection, compassion, and possibility.

We are especially grateful for our guardian angel, John Selby, whose extraordinary generosity has helped us grow from international medical outreach efforts to expanding life-changing quality of life programs for medically complex youth and families throughout San Diego and across the U.S.

In honor of National Nurses Month, we are proud to highlight the incredible nurses who help make the ConnectMed mission possible. đź’ś
Today we are celebrating Lauren Rackley, from San Diego Rady’s Craniofacial clinic and her dedication to our children and families.
“I enjoy volunteering with ConnectMed because I value the importance of creating supportive and inclusive spaces for children and families. Volunteering at events like Camp Cosmos has been especially meaningful, as it allows me to be part of experiences that help children with craniofacial and other physical differences feel supported, confident, and connected.”
Thank you, Lauren, for the care, kindness, and encouragement you bring to every child and family you serve.

Laissez les bon temps rouler....with ConnectMed!

Excited to share that our 2026 Gala is a Mardi Gras-style celebration: Le Bon Temps Soiree on Saturday, September 19!

Why is this theme meaningful to us? Mardi Gras is, at its heart, about community - people from the many different backgrounds that shape New Orleans gathering in the streets to celebrate  shared and diverse traditions and cultures.

Plus - little known fact -  New Orleans is the birthplace of our Founder Dr. Amanda Gosman!

Tickets available at connectmed.org on July 6! Until then- PLEASE SAVE THE DATE!

As our 2025–2026 International Fellowship comes to a close, we applaud Ethiopian reconstructive surgeon Dr. Metasebia Abebe as she completed an intensive year of advanced surgical training at Ganga Hospital in India.
This Fellowship was intentionally selected because it provides immersive hand surgery training that directly reflects the needs of the patients and communities she serves back home in Addis Ababa. At her hospital and throughout her region, traumatic hand injuries are common — often life-altering injuries that can affect a person’s ability to work, care for family, attend school, and navigate daily life.
This experience allowed Dr. Abebe to strengthen skills that will not only impact her own patients, but will also help train and mentor other surgeons in Ethiopia for years to come.
This is the ripple effect of sustainable global partnership:
investing in local leaders, expanding access to specialized care, and building long-term capacity within communities. 🌍✨

May is National Speech-Language Pathology Month....and at ConnectMed, we know that speech is about so much more than words — it’s about confidence, self-expression, and quality of life.
For youth with cleft and craniofacial conditions, Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs) are an essential part of the multidisciplinary care team. From early feeding support to speech development, social communication, and self-advocacy, SLPs help children and families navigate challenges that extend far beyond the operating room.
✨ The Glendora Tremper Scholarship
This Scholarship helps expand access to specialized cleft and craniofacial speech training to specialists who are serving in their own resource-limited communities around the world.
It honors longtime volunteer, board member, and friend, Glendora Tremper (1954-2025), who dedicated over 25 years volunteering with ConnectMed and other groups to provide free speech therapy for craniofacial patients in Mexico.
If you would like to support the Scholarship and give the gift of connection through language and self-expression to vulnerable children - click the Glendora Tremper Scholarshp tab at connectmed.org (link in bio) or text.....
To every SLP who helps create safe, encouraging spaces where kids can find their voices: thank you. đź’™

May is Nurse Appreciation Month

Over the last 15 years, so many incredible nurses have volunteered with and shaped ConnectMed, bringing compassion and work ethic to everything from medical outreach trips to our psychosocial programs. Our impact simply wouldn’t be the same without them.
While there are SO many to thank....Today we’re spotlighting Priscilla

From patient intake to organizing patient files in Tijuana, supporting Camp Cosmos at the Beach, and helping behind the scenes, she brings warmth, energy, and laughter wherever she goes. We’re endlessly grateful!
