Different housing needs require different housing solutions.
I built Build for 53 from years of working in housing development, preservation, and neighborhood-scale housing.
The framework is now live.

Not everyone experiencing homelessness needs the same intervention.

Some people need behavioral health support, intensive services, or permanent supportive housing.

Others can live independently and maintain housing – they simply can’t afford the housing available to them.

That’s economic homelessness.

And affordability is a primary barrier, sometimes the intervention people need most is exactly what they’re missing:

A permanent home they can afford.

Different housing needs require different housing solutions.

What if we could create more affordable housing without changing the scale of a Neighborhood?

That’s what we are working toward at J St.

Rise Up Residential is preserving and renovating .4 existing homes while adding 12 new homes on the same property – creating 16 permanently affordable housing for up to 43 people.

No large development. No displacement of residence already living here.

Just using the land we already have differently – and keeping the housing affordable for the long-term.

This is Neighborhood scale infill.

Small sites can make a big difference.
