The Hall Project continues to grow and develop! Children's Day this month was recognized by getting the kids together to eat. A professional came to instruct Margaret and some of the older girls on children's rights. They also taught the kids important information on children's rights. So much good happening despite difficult circumstances in Haiti! God is good!

One of the areas of growth in the Hall Project is employment opportunities for Good Samaritan young adults. Martine and Resinette have been key in helping with the kids program. Stephanie and Phaline have spent time using their nursing skills to lead health seminars for the Hall parents.

Our deepest sympathy
We are very saddened to hear of the passing of a friend to many, Schneider Dorcela on May 1 due to complications resulting from Sickle Cell Anemia.
Schneider was part a of AWAKENHAITI's staff the first few years of ministry and for the first year Jeff and Deb Denlinger lived in Haiti, he spent a lot of time with our teams. We are certain many of you have very fond memories of him! Schneider could always be found chatting it up with a smile, willing to try anything (even going out in a rickety boat and dressing up as if he would snorkel) and serve anyone and everyone. Schneider helped with our children's ministries and translating sponsor letters. He was there translating when Deb met Suzette for the first time and heard her story. Schneider translated in the back of our box truck for our very first medical team in Canaan. He even tried his hand at carpentry a time or two although he was much better suited to children's ministry and medical care!
Schneider took great care of his siblings and especially his mom. He made sure his mom had everything she needed for her health.
Schneider dreamed of becoming an OBGYN. He overcame so many obstacles, had worked so hard and had just graduated from medical school in Haiti. A dream cut short. He had hopes of impacting so many lives through medicine. What he didn't know was how many lives he had impacted in such a positive way over the years in many different organizations.
We are glad to know without a doubt he is with Jesus, but we pray for his family, his seven siblings and his mom in their mourning. Please join us in praying for them.

This past Saturday, 17 missionaries in Haiti were abducted.
We are heartbroken for those being held in captivity and for their families. Please pray for the safe return of all 17 and for those involved in the investigation and those making decisions on a course of action. And Please pray for peace to come in Haiti.
Even though we cannot take teams to Haiti at this time, we continue to walk alongside Good Samaritan Ministries as they are making change for the Kingdom one life at a time.

Up to 17 missionaries and their family members were taken by gang members in the capital of a country where kidnappings have become increasingly common.

Please be in prayer for Haiti. The earthquake that hit there this morning didn't affect the homes. All of our partners, kids, and friends are ok. But the area on the southwest part of Haiti has a lot of damage and loss of lives. This also is a traumatic reminder all over Haiti of the devastation of the 2010 earthquake. Our hearts break for all of those affected. We will keep updating as we hear from more people and hear of ways we may be able to help.

Kelly has been a vet serving in Haiti for many years; she provided all of the vet care for our dogs while living there and for the puppies that went to the children's homes. She has done so much good for Haiti and for many people. Please pray for her!
