🎀Why do we run? 🎀

Because breast cancer is more than a diagnosis. It can bring an overwhelming financial burden to moms and their families and we are here to help.

We run to raise awareness.
We run to support moms in the fight.
We run to help make that burden a little lighter.

Every mile matters. Every mom matters.

This is why we run. 🩷

🎀The latest 2025 breakthroughs are in🎀

Incredible strides are happening in the fight against breast cancer. Here’s a snapshot of the latest 2025 major treatment breakthroughs you need to know:

• Targeted Precision: New Antibody-Drug Conjugates (ADCs) like Datopotamab Deruxtecan (Dato-DXd) are delivering therapies directly to cancer cells while sparing healthy tissue.
• Overcoming Resistance: Advanced oral therapies (like ESR1 mutation targets) are offering powerful second-line options.
• Advanced Risk Detection: Early detection got a major upgrade with FDA-approved predictive software analyzing mammograms to assess risk long before visible signs even show up.

Knowledge is power—and early detection saves lives. Share this to spread awareness

🎀Common Ways Breast Cancer is Treated🎀

🎀When it comes to treating breast cancer, there is no “one size fits all” approach. A person’s treatment plan is completely customized based on the type of breast cancer, its stage, and their personal health goals.🎀

Here are the 5 most common ways breast cancer is treated today:

1️⃣ Surgery: Often the first step to remove the tumor. This can range from a lumpectomy (removing just the tumor and a small rim of surrounding tissue) to a mastectomy (removing the entire breast).

2️⃣ Radiation Therapy: High-energy rays (similar to X-rays) are used to target and destroy any remaining cancer cells in the breast area after surgery.

3️⃣ Chemotherapy: Powerful medications taken orally or through an IV that travel through the entire body to target and kill fast-growing cancer cells.

4️⃣ Hormone Therapy: Some breast cancers use hormones like estrogen to grow. This treatment uses medications to block those hormones or lower their levels, essentially “starving” the cancer cells.

5️⃣ Targeted & Immunotherapy: Advanced treatments that specifically target the changes in cancer cells that help them grow, or help your body’s own immune system find and fight the cancer.

🎀Knowledge is power, and understanding the options is the first step. 🎀

🎀Meet our first 2026 Beneficiary🎀

Diagnosed with breast cancer on Christmas Day last year, Joanna is a strong mom of two boys currently living on Martha’s Vineyard. She has had surgery in February and recently navigated 20 rounds of daily radiation, traveling by ferry and car, while also preparing for ongoing care.

Because of her diagnosis, Joanna has had to reduce her work to Paid Family Medical Leave, leading to a significant loss of income. With mounting co-pays, travel costs, and medical expenses, the financial burden continues to grow during an already incredibly difficult time.

Miles for Moms is honored to support her breast cancer journey as she starts endocrine therapy next week and grateful to stand beside her as she focuses on healing and her family. ✨

Donate to Joanna and read her full story — link in bio.
