A little bit of rain couldn't keep the Cross Church Preschoolers from an outing to Loveless Park Memorial Playground today.

So glad the playground is ready for all of the end of school year celebrations. And who isn't looking forward to a summer of outdoor fun.

Remembrance is why the memorial area of Loveless Park Memorial Playground is important.

Remembrance is why the memorial area of Loveless Park Memorial Playground is important.

Sometimes it begins with a simple question…
“Tell me about your son.”

And in that moment, something inside gently lights up.

A soft smile appears,
even through the ache.

Because speaking of him
was never something that needed effort.

It comes naturally—
like breathing,
like remembering the warmth of sunlight.

His name still carries light.
His memories still carry life.

In the way he laughed,
in the way he made ordinary days feel special,
in the quiet pride that still lingers in every thought.

There are so many reasons to speak of him—
so many little moments
that refuse to fade.

And even now,
love doesn’t feel distant.

It feels present…
wrapped in every story,
held in every word spoken about him.

The world may have changed,
but the bond hasn’t.

Because a love like that
doesn’t end with goodbye.

It transforms.
It stays.
It lives on—
in memory, in heart, in every gentle smile that appears
whenever he’s remembered.

Join us today in celebrating Earth Day!

We invite you to spend time at one of Carlinville's Parks. We ask you to help protect them by simply respecting the facilities and equipment and never leaving trash.

Consider becoming involved in one of Carlinville's volunteer opportunities (Tree City, Bee City, Master Gardeners, the Community Garden).

Together we have the power to protect our Earth.

We are very excited to announce that the first stage of Loveless Park Memorial Playground is paid in full.

This amazing accomplishment could not have been achieved without

1. nearly 200 heartfelt donations ranging from $12.00 to $10,000.00.

2. the Carlinville Park District overseeing the contract with Hutchinson Recreation and making the final payment this week.

3. the Carlinville Winning Communities, especially Dakotah, for giving us a mechanism to accept tax deductible contributions.

4. the United Community Bank for helping us establish an account for an easy way to accept donations (non tax deductible).

5. the group of people who have worked tirelessly behind the scenes to raise this money.

Stay tuned as we continue to post about stage 2! Donations are still being accepted.

Register today for UofI Tree Workshop being held Saturday, April 25 at Loveless Park.

During April, people across the world join to bring awareness for Protecting our Earth.

Trees are an essential part of Carlinville’s urban landscape, offering shade, evaporative cooling, habitat for local wildlife, and beauty throughout the seasons. Join us on Saturday, April 25 at 9 a.m. at Loveless Park in Carlinville for this free workshop and community tree-planting event that invites residents to learn more about the trees that help shape your town.

Participants will explore what makes up Carlinville’s urban forest, gain hands‑on experience planting a tree correctly, and learn how to prune trees properly. The event is open to all community members regardless of skill level or experience. Supplies, snacks, and refreshments will be provided.

Every tree in town—not just those in parks—contributes to Carlinville’s urban canopy!
