Recently, EcoSavvy Insights has been busy busy! I wanted to provide an update for any friends following our efforts. We currently have 3 public records requests out!
1: We have requested all documentation related to the permit modification request for International Paper Company. We are coming to our June 16th public hearing, prepared!
2: We have requested the 2025 Phase II environmental site assessment reports for the Prospect Village Redevelopment site. We currently only have 2024 data and through reviewing our previous sunshine request we found that a 2025 ESA was being conducted during the time of our first request and therefore we are missing that critical, recent data.
3: We have requested from the City of Joplin, the planning and zoning documentation for any plat reviews or decisions regarding the Prospect Village Redevelopment site.
We have a meeting with the Joplin City Manager and Planning and Zoning director in two weeks to discuss more about the public hearing and meeting and how we can ensure transparency is a top priority for this project.
We are also currently working on new maps and visualizations for the Galena KS Neighbors For Clean Air group! Once we have new maps showing where the tornado waste is in relation to the currently documented hotspots, we plan to update our website page to update the current status of the landfill project. We hope to knock doors later in May to receive more survey responses.
We have a meeting with members of the Joplin Citizens Against Wildwood Ranch Data Center Site next week to focus on how EcoSavvy can assist in the fight against the data center. If we can’t stop it, how can we ensure they put public health and public interest is a top priority?
We are also currently completely redoing our website! We are very thankful for the assistance fromnetfishes in helping us develop a new website tailored to the needs of the concerns of our community. They also helped make this cool new name tag that I am obsessed with!
We also were requested to assist with data collection for the Homeless Coalition of Joplin and to assist with a report on the currently status of the houseless community in our area!
We also have officially partnered with Storyteller Songwrights to have regular charity events for !
We are very busy but we are always thinking of our community and how we can help fight the good fight! Stay tuned as we keep things moving 🫶
