💙 Thank You for Joining Us at the Blue Mass! 💙
On September 27th, we gathered at Holy Rosary for the Blue Mass, honoring the dedication of active and retired law enforcement officers, firefighters, and emergency personnel.
This special Mass, open to people of all faiths, provided a heartfelt opportunity to express our gratitude to those who work tirelessly to keep our communities safe. 🙏
During the service, we offered blessings for our public safety contributors and prayers for those who have lost their lives in service. Members of the public safety community participated as readers and gift bearers, with a multi-jurisdictional honor guard presenting the colors.
The Blue Mass tradition, which dates back to 1934, holds significant importance in many dioceses, particularly here in Maine since the Diocese of Portland instituted it after September 11, 2001. This event serves as a powerful reminder of the selfless love and service provided by our police, fire, and rescue personnel: “Greater love has no man than this: that a man lay down his life for his friends” (John 15:13).
Thank you to everyone who attended and helped make this event a meaningful way to honor those who serve our communities!
