History is being made on the Buckeye Trail 🥾

Congratulations to Victoria Livingston, who became the oldest woman on record to complete Ohio's 1,444-mile Buckeye Trail at age 79! She and her husband, Dave Bradford, also became the 23rd couple to complete the entire trail after years of hiking it section by section.

Their incredible journey took them through some of Ohio's most beautiful landscapes, including many state parks and forests, before ending at Headlands Beach State Park on the shores of Lake Erie.

✨ Sandhill cranes were once extirpated (disappeared) from Ohio. They returned to Wayne County in 1987 to breed and have been slowly expanding since. An increase in the sandhill crane population is an indicator of improving habitat conditions and water quality. However, they are still listed as a threatened species in Ohio.
