Don't dismiss what you hear and what you smell. That's just as important as sight and sound and often narrows down the person even more.
I occasionally smell Dove face cream when I walk into my bathroom. It's unmistakable. It was the cream my mom used to use and I can tie this visitation directly to her.
It's a wonderful feeling.

At Christmas time we often have visitors from beyond. When you take your holiday pics look at them very carefully. You may very well have a departed visitor.

By now, you probably know what to look for. Orbs, mist, ectoplasm or an apparition. Am I missing anything?

I'd love to have you post your pics here, or any holiday stories you may have.

If you want to catch a ghost on audio or video, you only need to make a trip to Gettysburg. You're nearly guaranteed success because the battlefield and the town are so incredibly haunted. I've never been to a more active area.

Remember, if you see mist in your flashlight beam you can't count the pic to be authentic. Always check the weather, and don't go when you can see your breath, and avoid high humidity if you want pics. I also suggest spring or fall when the bugs are less active.

Never underestimate the power of smell.

So often we connect communication with the other side by the sense of sight or sound. We look through our pics for anomalies and listen for EVP in our recorders. But smell is often overlooked or put aside.

My mom used to wear Pond's face cream. A year ago I bought a jar of it just to remember what she smelled like. The lid on the jar is tight and the fragrance is barely present if you put your nose up to the jar. I keep it in a cupboard in my bathroom.

Ever since I bought the Pond's I will periodically be welcomed with an intense fragrance of the cream when I walk into my bathroom. Yesterday, the smell was so strong I smelled it a room away. But it's only occasionally and I do nothing different. I just walk into the room, and sometimes it's there, sometimes not.

I'd love to hear anyone else's accounts on fragrance from beyond.

It seems that ghosts are able to manipulate certain substances such as clouds and tea leaves, but they can also influence liquids and gases.
A friend of mine lost her good friend, Deb, to cancer and went to the local reservoir to reflect on their lives together and try to come to terms with her death.
I wish I had a photo, she wished she took a photo. But she was so mesmerizing by the reflection in the water of her friend looking at her, that she couldn't stop looking to go get her camera.
The face was unmistakably Deb's and it made eye contact with her, smiled slightly, and faded into the water. This only lasted a few seconds but long enough for her to be positive of who and what she saw.
This changed my friend into a believer of the paranormal. No small feat since I've been trying to do that for over a decade.

We typically think of ghosts as having free will. The ability and even desire to return to a location that tormented them in life, like returning to the scene of the accident that took their life. Or going back to a prison, their gravestone, school, homes they've lived in, etc.
But what if they must experience and understand certain events in order to grow as a spirit? To move on.
Possibly, we need to relive some of our earthly experiences and return to the point in time we made our mistakes and haven't accepted or learned from them. So, we need to return to those events to understand what we could've done differently.

I hope you all had wonderful holidays.

Did anyone feel closer to deceased loved ones? If so, we'd love to hear about it or see photos and videos.

So many report Halloween being spiritually active and claim that the veil is thinner on October 31, more so than any other day of the year.

I believe that Christmas brings us closer to the spirits due to the strength of the memories. Happiness and sheer joy as a child stick with us forever, so does disappointment.
As we get older family Christmases take on a new meaning as we slowly morph into adults. And still, the emotions of the season continue to make it memorable.

Feelings of Christmas may be strong with spirit, as well. But no one can be certain. Either way, I always feel that special communion of souls at Christmas.

Are ghosts really more active on Halloween? Is it true that the veil between our world, and that of the dead, is thinner?

What I believe is that our mind is more powerful than we think. When we dwell, focus, and ruminate on ghosts we give them power. Our thoughts, feelings, and beliefs bring the spirits closer to us.
There isn't another holiday that concentrates more thoroughly on ghosts and the paranormal, than Halloween.

So yes. The veil is thinner because we think it is.

Many people have asked, "How do I know if I'm really communicating with someone that has died, or it's just words in my head that I'm making up?"
That's an excellent question.
When spirit speaks to us we "feel the words," we don't hear them like we do when we're talking to ourselves.
If you quiet your mind, find a peaceful place to be, just think of the person or animal, or of God. Then wait for the feeling to come. No words.
Move words and thoughts gently from your mind. Feel it.
When you get in sync with someone beyond the veil you will understand the connection forever. Because it's familiar to us. That's the way we communicated before we were born into our physical body.
