Looking for your new shadow? Bane is here to assist! This 8 month old boy is a happy, happy puppy that enjoys anything and everything that his humans & canine friends want to do! Go walking outside? Bane is there. 🐾 Want to take a nap on the couch? He is ready to snuggle under the blankets! 🤗 Love dancing in the rain? He is getting his rain coat ready! 🌧

We are teaming up with Best Friends Animal Society and Walmart to make a difference for shelter pets! THIS Friday, October 16th, we'll be at the Walmart off of Pinhook in Lafayette from 3-6pm. with adoptable dogs and cats. Look for our tent and bus and come meet some amazing animals looking for homes like yours.

Individual temperament and personality should matter far more than color and yet, the evidence that appearance hinders adoption is an unavoidable truth. Right now, black dogs are stacking up in our shelter and ALL of them are facing an extreme lack of adoption interest.

Nearly half of our entire dog population have black or dark coats and we desperately need help breaking this stigma. In many cases, overlooking these dogs is not a conscious intention, which is why it is so important to challenge ourselves to see the individual and the ways in which they fit into our lives. Prolonged time in the shelter amplifies stress, depression and anxiety.

WE ARE CLOSED TOMORROW for our annual fundraising gala, Bark in the Dark! Unless you have an appointment made, we will be unable to facilitate walk-in visits.
Our doors will reopen Friday at 9am and we have our Adoption Event on Saturday, 10am-1pm!

Hi Everyone, it's me, Terra, and this episode of my life is title: TERRA GOES TO FOSTER! 🎉

Being in a home is soooo much different than being at the shelter, and I should know! I had spent nearly 255 nights at AAA. This week-long getaway was the most relaxing experience I've ever known. My foster mom (wow, I had a foster mom!) said that I slept like a baby for days. I just remember how peaceful it all felt. 😊

Look, look, look! This is what else my foster had to say about me: "Terra really doesn't ask for anything. She hangs out in whatever room I'm in. She's excited when we come home and then goes back to resting. I think she really, really loves the peace and quiet. She's perfectly behaved." SEE! I told you I could do it! Housetrained, crate trained, non-destructive, loves toys - I'm checking boxes!

I also loved the cat I met and the other dog there was cool, she taught me a few things, and I like that they had calm personalities so we could just chill. It was nice to make new friends, to snuggle in a bed and to shed all of the stress that had been building. My friends at the shelter told me that this will open doors for me and I hope it does. I want to have something like this forever. ❤

Now that everyone can see what I'm capable of, I have other foster opportunities which means more environments, people and other pets to meet! I'm still waiting to hear that magical word: ADOPTER. Our pups have put together a Wishlist of most needed, daily used items! Our inventory of CLIP LEASHES is extremely low: a must-have item utilized by all departments from shelter staff, fosters, volunteers, etc. All of the dogs in our care get multiple walks a day across our property, enriching their lives and fine-tuning skills that prepare them for adoption.

We are also in need of slow feeders, pill pockets and treats! These things assist both in the daily care and behavior training of our pups.
