What started with one man’s heart has become something an entire community gets to carry.

Scott lived his life serving others.

After losing him, Carmon, Anna, and Max could have simply held those memories close.

Instead, they found a way to keep his heart for people moving.

That became JSG.

And every person who has attended, donated, volunteered, sponsored, bid on an auction item, or simply told someone else about this foundation has become a small part of that story.

On November 5, we get to do it again.

This time, for the Leon family.

One room. One community. And a whole lot of people choosing to show up when it matters. 💙

Before JSG had a name, a benefit, or a room full of people behind it, there was simply the way Scott lived.

He helped people.

He showed up.

He gave without needing anyone to know he was the one who gave.

It wasn’t something he did for recognition. It was simply part of who he was.

After losing Scott, Carmon, Anna and Max were left with the question of how to keep that part of him moving forward.

JSG became one of the answers.

And years later, Scott’s heart for helping people is still reaching families who need someone beside them.

This year, that family is the Leon family. 💙

On November 5, we get to carry a little piece of Scott’s legacy forward again—together.

There are some things you understand differently once you’ve lived them.

Carmon, Anna, and Max know what it means for a family to lose someone who felt impossible to imagine life without.

They know there is the day you lose them.

And then there are all the days that come after.

The first holidays. The empty chair. The decisions you used to make together. The ordinary moments when their absence suddenly feels anything but ordinary.

That shared experience doesn’t make anyone’s grief the same.

But it does create a different kind of understanding.

And it’s one of the reasons standing beside the Leon family now feels so deeply personal.

JSG was born from loss, but it was built to turn that loss into love for other people.

On November 5, that love will surround the Leon family. 💙

Someday, Tom’s children will tell stories about their dad that have nothing to do with cancer.

They’ll talk about the things he taught them.

Work hard.

Tell the truth.

Be kind.

Take care of your family.

Show up for the people you love.

They’ll remember the trips, the laughter, the lessons, the conversations, and probably plenty of moments only their family would understand.

That may be one of the most beautiful things about a life well lived.

The person may no longer be standing beside you, but pieces of who they were continue showing up in the people they raised and loved.

Tom’s children will carry those pieces forward. 💙

There are things no amount of money can replace.

We know a fundraiser cannot give the Leon family any of those things back.

But there are burdens we can help carry.

Remaining medical expenses from Tom’s treatments. Everyday financial responsibilities. The reality of a household suddenly adjusting to life without him.

That’s where we can make a difference.

This benefit isn’t about pretending we can fix what happened.

It’s about doing the part we can do—and doing it together.

Look beyond the cancer diagnosis and you’ll find an entire life.

A husband.
A dad.
A Navy veteran.
A friend.
A man deeply loved by the people around him.

Those are the stories we want to keep telling.

And on November 5, we’ll have the opportunity to come together not only to remember Tom, but to show up for the family carrying those memories forward.
