Thank you Covrett for Ohio 87 for attending!

Good sized crowd tonight at the US23-71 Opposition meeting. I learned that ODOT will be choosing a single route in mid-July or early August. Keep calling elected officials in the legislature so they know we are committed to opposing this thing.

* Goal: 50 people committing 10 min/day to make calls
* 5–10 calls per person in 10 minutes = up to 2,500 calls/day to legislators
* Legislators rarely answer — leave voicemails, spread calls throughout the day
* Volume signals organization and persistence, not just individual pressure

A vote for is one NO vote to fund it but we need more.

And I was so glad to meet some folks in person tonight that I only knew from emails/facebook.

We are a diverse crowd all working towards the same goal.

Good turnout at the no-highway meeting last night! Citizens of Morrow County revealed the billboard they designed. Look for it to go up in about 2 weeks. It will be located on northbound 23 just north of the SR 98 Waldo exit.

The billboard has been rented for 6 months with the first month already paid for by a generous donor. The cost is $600/month, so your donations to this effort would be greatly appreciated. CCoMC is a registered 501c-3, so your donations are tax deductible. Contact them through their Facebook group page for information on how to donate.

Join us TODAY, Monday, June 15 at 6:30 pm, at the Morrow County Fairgrounds Junior Fair Building for our next 23/71 Bypass Opposition Gathering and Update “Meet & Eat”!

This is our third meeting, and more than 250 of us have come to each of the last two meetings. It is going to take all of being continually involved to beat this!

We’re quite excited to update everyone on what we’ve been up to over the last two months. Everyone has been working hard! We will …

1. Reveal the design of a BILLBOARD that will be going up on 23, just north of the 98 intersection, in just a little over 2 weeks.

2. Update everyone on ODOT’s process and how we absolutely impacted their evaluation based on the comment cards that we sent in, as well as the letters and resolutions by our elected officials.

3. Let everyone know what’s ahead and how everyone can join in the effort.

4. Introduce the “Defend Our Homes and Farms” Tour and have the pack-and-go tent/display set up for everyone to check out.

5. Talk about best practices for reaching out to Ohio House and Senate members who will receive the ODOT report by October 1, and who will ultimately be responsible for deciding the fate of the bypass.

AND, starting at 5:30, we’ll have grilled hotdogs, waters, and cookies (freewill donation) to chow down on while talking with your friends and neighbors! Thanks to Nick and Melina for volunteering your time to grill and serve!

Please join us in thanking the Morrow County Regional Planning Commission for their strong and thoughtful opposition to the bypass! They rightly point out that such a project would put us on the path of future of development that is harmful to our communities, inconsistent with our character, and wholly rejected by our residents. We appreciate their leadership and their strong show of support for the rural heritage of our county!

Please join us in thanking the Morrow Soil and Water Conservation District for their strong opposition to the bypass. For decades, they have wisely stewarded our county’s prime farm ground through soil and water best practices, education, and conservation. They know the threat that this bypass poses to our land and our communities. Please read the letter in its entirety and share with your friends and neighbors!

Alright folks! Summer break may be here, but the work continues for stopping this bypass! So it is time for us to get together again and make sure we are organized and ready to win this fight! See the flyer for details. Our agenda will include:

Planting season is in full swing, with all the usual weather challenges, and we are again reminded of our immense gratitude for our local farmers and farming families. For generations, they have tended their land, built our communities, and fed the world. We are proud to stand with them to preserve one of our nation’s most precious and irreplaceable resources: our prime farmground.

And we are so thankful that the Morrow County Farm Bureau, the Marion County Farm Bureau, and the Ohio Farm Bureau have all come out in defense of farmers, prime farm ground, and our communities by opposing the 23-71 bypass. Please join us, today and every day, in thanking the Farm Bureau and our farmers!
