What will this bypass cost Morrow County according to this excellent letter to ODOT from The Ohio Environmental Council?

Likely our only chance of ever having a State Nature Preserve.

Some of our last remaining old growth forest.

Destroyed Category 3 wetlands.

Loss of habitat for 1,000 species of wildlife and plants.

300,000 trees.

Destroy one of the last remaining Underground Railroad sites in the county.

Destroy one of the only Indian earthworks in Morrow County.

Noise and light pollution

Water runoff and drainage problems.

Did you know that the bypass will destroy some of the last remaining old growth forest left in Morrow County? That’s right, 400 acres of some of the most pristine preserved land in conservation in the state is located in the Poston Preserve, operated by Appalachia Ohio Alliance. Should we really pave over such a beautiful part of our county’s natural heritage for a project that has no documented economic necessity?

‼️PLEASE SHARE‼️

The next two days are absolutely critical to our efforts to defeat the bypass. And we need YOUR help!

1) All public comments MUST be received by ODOT by Tuesday. If you submitted a comment in the spring, it will not be counted or considered for this phase. You must submit a new comment, even if it is identical. It’s easy. Just email [email protected]. Include your name, address, and public comment. It’s as easy as that. If you have a comment card, take it to the Cardington-Lincoln Public Library or our booth at the Morrow County Fair - Ohio (we will be located right next to the Show Arena) by NOON TUESDAY. We have blank comment cards at both locations for you to fill out as well. We will hand deliver them to ODOT Tuesday afternoon.

2) The Morrow County Commissioners have been absolute champions for our county in opposing this bypass. They will be considering additional opposition measures at their meeting tomorrow, Monday, August 31, at the fairgrounds antique tractor pavilion/small stage, at 1:00, and they want to hear from YOU! This is a fantastic opportunity for you to make your voice heard and share your concerns directly to our elected officials. You’ll have a few minutes to speak and voice your opposition. Parking and admission are FREE tomorrow at the fair. We hope you will take advantage of this major opportunity to advance our cause. And, we will have blank comment cards there for you to fill out!

Please share and help us spread the word. We are going to beat this thing. We are going to do it together. And we need your help in the next few days to make it happen! Onward!

CASE UPDATE

In Re Crossroads Solar Project

The Morrow County Prosecutor's Office was advised by the Ohio Power Siting Board on August 25th that no appeal had been filed by the Petitioner of the Crossroads Solar Project with the Ohio Supreme Court which means that the OPSB's denial of the petition for the project will stand and there will not be construction of the proposed solar project in Cardington, Lincoln, and Westfield Townships.

This issue was litigated by Prosecutor Andrew Wick in January of this year, with additional arguments in support of the denial being made in March and June of this year. Prosecutor Wick wishes to thank the trustees of Cardington, Lincoln, and Westfield Townships for their leadership on behalf of their constituents, the Morrow County Commissioners for their representation and leadership for the county at large, and the public of the involved townships and Morrow County at large for voicing their opinions in a clear, passionate but still respectful way.
