⚡️ adoption is rising—but charging access in multifamily housing is lagging behind.

One in three cars purchased in Colorado in Q3 2025 was electric—the highest share in the country. At-home charging is the most convenient and affordable option, but it’s often unavailable for multi-family housing units

🚧 The charging gap
• Only 5% of U.S. rental properties offer EV charging
• Multifamily residents face added hurdles: shared parking, electrical upgrades, HOA rules, and upfront costs
• Colorado added more than 20,000 new multifamily housing units in 2025, growing the urgency to act

🔌 Closing the gap
Alongside Walking Mountains, we're offering a free multifamily EV charging coaching program:
• 6 months of one-on-one technical support
• Help navigating incentives and grants
• Support for renters, homeowners, and property managers

🏢 Why it matters
• EV chargers increase property value
• They help attract and retain tenants
• They future-proof buildings for a rapidly electrifying transportation system

🔗 Let’s close the EV charging gap. Learn more:

For people living in multifamily housing—condos, apartments and townhomes—access to at-home EV charging is often nonexistent or challenging.

No home charger? No problem. 🚗⚡

Access to convenient charging is a big barrier to widespread adoption, especially for renters or drivers without the option to install a home charger. Our latest EV success story shows how Aspen resident Tim Johns has found another path forward.

After using Colorado Energy Office's Vehicle Exchange Program to trade in his gas vehicle, Tim has made public charging a simple, cost-saving part of his routine—whether that’s charging while running errands, walking his dog, or taking advantage of free and fast chargers in the Roaring Fork Valley.

❝I always joke with my girlfriend that we should take my car because it’s free,❞ says Tim.

Tim's story highlights how public charging, smart planning, and state incentives can make EV ownership more accessible across Colorado.

An Aspen resident shows how easy and cost-saving public EV charging can be, thanks to Colorado’s VXC program and smart charging routines.

📸 Scenes from a test drill in Aspen!

Aspen School District is taking a big step towards creating one of Colorado’s largest K–12 hashtag heating and cooling systems. Early field assessments are complete, and ASD is moving forward with an application for a $5M Colorado Geothermal Energy Tax Credit Offering.

The system will add decarbonized cooling, shift most heating to high-efficiency ground-source heat pumps, and include 150–300 closed-loop geothermal wells—up to 5× more efficient than traditional electric systems.

CLEER is supporting this effort alongside McKinstry, The GreyEdge Group, Bedrock Energy, and Holy Cross Energy to bring an efficient and long-term energy solution to ASD.
