SIU alumnus Brian Hawkins ’91 is helping Salukis gain hands-on experience and prepare for careers in healthcare.

As president and CEO of HHM Health, Hawkins has hired two SIU students, providing opportunities for them to apply what they are learning and gain real-world experience in healthcare.

“I believe it’s important to reinvest in the new leaders that are coming up.”

That commitment is especially meaningful as artificial intelligence and other technologies continue to change the field. Hawkins believes students need opportunities to develop the skills and human connection that remain essential to caring for others.

We are grateful to Brian and HHM Health for partnering with SIU to support students and help prepare the next generation of healthcare professionals.

Watch the video to learn more about Brian’s Saluki story and why supporting SIU students is important to him.

In Season 2, Episode 1 of The Impact Report, we’re taking a trip back in time to see what move-in looked like for generations of Salukis.

Courtesy of Morris Library Special Collections, these photos capture new student move-in at SIU from as early as 1955 through 1990. From what students packed for college to how campus has changed through the decades, it’s a fun look back at the start of a new academic year.

And for the alumni wondering, yes, the Towers are still standing and have been updated through the years!

As our Salukis settle into the fall semester, take a look back at move-in days of the past and see how some things have changed while the excitement of a new year at SIU remains.
