The main purpose of this program is to increase the awareness of the college student community of the recommended physical activity guidelines to achieve a healthy lifestyle (i.e., Adults need at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity physical activity per week and should perform muscle-strengthening exercises on 2 or more days each week for 15 minutes). Additionally, this program aims to develop inclusive activities that help to achieve these physical activity guidelines and are specifically tailored to the college student community. Thus, the mission of the 150Minutes program is to increase awareness of the physical activity guidelines that are recommended to achieve a healthy lifestyle among college students. To kick-start this program, The Saudi student Association will organize a marathon on campus that will target all SIU students. The theme of this marathon will encompass the message of this campaign, which is to increase awareness of the recommended physical activity guidelines to achieve a healthy lifestyle among college students.
