Illinois Mushrooms: Colorful, Diverse, Important & In Need of Conservation
by Greg Mueller
Carbondale Township Hall, 217 E Main St. (back entrance)
Greg Mueller's talk, "Illinois Mushrooms," will start at 7 pm.
Join us early, starting at 6:15 pm, for light refreshments and time to socialize.
Free and open to the public.
In his talk, our speaker, Greg Mueller, will focus on the important ecological roles of mushrooms, the loss and degradation of their habitat, changes in weather patterns, and, in a few cases, over-harvesting that threatens fungi locally and globally. He will also share citizen science initiatives that document mushroom diversity, distribution, and conservation needs.
These mushrooms come in many shapes, sizes, and colors. Some are choice edibles, others are deadly poisonous, but all of them play important ecological roles. And many found in Illinois and surrounding states
We hope you will join us, for the socializing and for this presentation.
