Today, May 4th, we recognize International Firefighters’ Day.

We honor the brave men and women who put their lives on the line to protect our communities—day and night, in every condition. Your dedication, courage, and sacrifice do not go unnoticed.

Thank you to all firefighters, past and present.

We are proud to stand behind you. 🚒❤️

What's a porta tank?

When there are no fire hydrants nearby, firefighters bring the water supply with them — and that’s where porta tanks come in.

A porta tank is a large portable folding tank that’s quickly set up on scene to hold thousands of gallons of water. Tankers (water tenders) shuttle water from a fill site, dump it into the porta tank, and our engines draft from it to keep water flowing continuously to the fire.

This system allows rural fire departments to move large amounts of water fast, even miles away from the nearest hydrant. It takes teamwork, coordination, and training to keep the shuttle moving and the water supply constant.

In rural firefighting, water is everything — and porta tanks help make every drop count.
