Harambee Collective is outraged by and unequivocally condemns the Tigray High Court’s recent decision to overturn the convictions of the two men previously sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of Zewdu Haftu, a young Tigrayan woman whose life was brutally taken on the streets of Mekelle 3 years ago.

We stand in unwavering solidarity with her family, women’s rights advocates, and civil society organizations across Tigray in demanding the immediate reversal of this unjust decision and the restoration of accountability for Zewdu’s killing.

As tensions rise and the risk of renewed conflict grows, women and girls in Tigray, many of whom continue to carry the lasting impacts of conflict-related sexual violence, stand on the brink of yet another preventable crisis.
