Over the past few months, we worked with our partners to deliver a second container of critical medical equipment and supplies to Tigray. Despite delays in last-mile delivery due to ongoing acute fuel shortages affecting logistics, these supplies have now reached the region supporting 33 health facilities, restoring or newly enabling surgical services in 14 of them, and helping equip an estimated 5,000 health workers to better serve their communities.

This work is part of our ongoing commitment to supporting a health system under severe strain from the and other crises, ensuring people can access quality care when they need it most.

And the work continues. Alongside additional medical shipments, we’re supporting plans for solar-powered solutions for hospitals and schools because systems under pressure need resilient, reliable, and sustainable solutions.

We are grateful to Refugees International for amplifying findings from our initiative and for sounding the alarm on the worsening conditions facing women across .

As their latest brief makes clear, rising tensions between Ethiopia and Eritrea, internal political divisions in the region, and continued displacement are leaving women and survivors of conflict-related sexual violence at heightened risk, with limited access to healing, services, and justice.

Aid cuts and lack of resources are compounding these challenges, even as communities brace for the threat of renewed violence.
These realities underscore the urgent need for sustained, survivor-centered support and renewed international attention.

If fighting resumes in Tigray, women’s bodies will again be part of the battleground.
