When God Turns Your Mess Into Your Message

When we look at the Bible we see God giving us story after story of hot messes, people who were murderers, adulterers, liars, thieves, cheaters, people who were full of mess and sin, and God not only forgave them but then used them for amazing purposes. Only God can turn a mess into a message, a test into a testimony, a trial into a triumph, and a victim into a victory. He is the anchor in our storms of life.

Trust Him, He said in Deuteronomy 31:6: "Be strong and courageous; do not be afraid or terrified of them, for it is the LORD your God who goes with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you."

When we look at the Bible we see God giving us story after story of hot messes, people who were murderers, adulterers, liars, thieves, cheaters, people that were full of mess and sin, and God not only forgave them but then used them for amazing purposes.

Don’t you think there is a reason that many of those stories are shared throughout Scripture? Don’t you think there is a reason that He tells us what those sins were? He didn’t just say Paul did some things that we won’t talk about, no, Paul murdered Christians. Scripture doesn’t state, that Peter said some hurtful things, no, Peter denied Jesus Christ three times.
The most amazing part of all is that the more I boast in my weakness and glorify God for His grace and mercy, the less useful it becomes to the enemy. Satan cannot torment me with a past I use as a testimony to glorify our King!
Our sins may be different, but every Christian has a past. If Jesus Himself were to say today as He did back then, “let he without sin cast the first stone“ John 8:7, It’s the beautiful part of grace and the connection we must all acknowledge in our walk together.
If there are pieces of your past that you cannot let go of, maybe it is because God is pushing you to turn your mess into your message.

We are to Make Disciples of all Nations
Matthew 28:18-20

Jesus commanded us to make disciples. “Make disciples” is a command, an order. He puts into practice what he learns. A disciple of Jesus Christ is one who has a wholehearted commitment to Jesus. Christ is His passion. “To me to live is Christ, and to die is better,” Philippians 1:21 was the passion of the apostle Paul.

Discipleship demands obedience on the part of the believer. Discipleship demands evangelism. If we are followers of Jesus Christ we will be involved in evangelism and discipleship.
We have no excuse. A disobedient church is a dying church. As a fire exists by burning, a church exists by evangelism and missions. Churches are dying all over the place because they are disobedient to the Savior’s command.

Evangelism is the primary task of the missionary because you cannot have disciples without evangelism. You cannot separate the two. We take great pride in several decisions at evangelism rallies; however, discipleship must take place if we are fulfilling our commission.

The man or woman who knows what God has sent him into the world to do, will neither depreciate his own work nor envy another. We cannot fail if we are at the center of God’s will. There is nothing we cannot do if He is doing His work through His way. I would rather have dreamed big and failed than sit and do nothing.
We do not go in our own strength. When God calls His servants, He equips them and provides all that they need to accomplish His eternal purpose.

Worship God as Our Father

See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are. (1 John 3:1)
All true worship begins with our adoption. All prayer, all praise, all singing — all of our relating to God — begins with being able to come to him as his children. That’s what Jesus won for us. When he went to the cross, he paid the immeasurable price of our adoption, to make us sons and daughters of the living God.

And so when he teaches us to pray in Matthew 6:9, he tells us come to God like this: “Our Father who art in heaven . . .” There is infinite intimacy in that statement. Father in heaven. There’s transcendence (he is in heaven), yet an utter accessibility that he gives us as he calls us his sons and daughters.

May we begin to live in light of that glorious truth — that we are redeemed and adopted sons and daughters of the living God. He wants us. He is with us. And he is for us. Let’s worship in light of that!

God will Provide

Elijah had only bread and meat to eat and water to drink. “And the ravens brought him bread and flesh in the morning, and bread and flesh in the evening; and he drank of the brook” (1 Kings 17:6).

Elijah enjoyed food and water at Cherith for a year before the brook dried up. When God provides little resources, we may be better off than the world suffering a drought. God can lead you to the brook before the drought comes, so God can take care of you when hard times come.

God provides for us in unusual ways, just as God used ravens to take care of Elijah.
Good times are not forever. Elijah didn’t have a care in this world as long as he was by the brook. He had food twice a day.

No thieves to worry about
No checks to bounce
No one to worry you

Sometimes we cause our brook to dry up. Because Elijah prayed, there was no rain. Eventually Elijah’s source of water dried up.
Enjoy the abundance of Cherith (prosperity) because tomorrow God may lead you to Zarephath(poverty)where you’ll live “hand to mouth.”

In Philippians 4:19, the Bible tells us that "And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus." Trusting in God to provide our needs and protection demonstrates our faith and commitment to Him.

When God introduces himself as Jehovah Jireh, meaning “the Lord will provide,” it’s in the context of the most profound physical need a person can face – the loss of life. "God will provide" means that He provides us with what we need.

You may not have everything you want, but you’ll have everything you need. What do you have in the place of prosperity and the place of poverty? The promises of the Bible, “The Lord is My Shepherd, I shall not want.”

Able Men

1 Chronicles 9:13 “They were very able men for the work of the service of the house of God.”

God is calling able men to serve Him. Men who will put on the armor of God, take up the sword of the spirit, and fight the good fight of faith. You see we are in a spiritual warfare and God is calling able men to take a stand on the front lines

But what is an able man? THEY ARE MEN OF AVAILABILITY:
The greatest ability is availability. ISAIAH 6:8, “I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.” You see Isaiah responded to the call of God. I believe we often look at men like Isaiah, Abraham, Moses, David, Paul and many others as great men with tremendous abilities, but the truth is they were men like you and me. They were ordinary men who made themselves available to the Almighty God and God did amazing things through them. God used them in great ways to impact the lives of thousands and even millions simply because they like Isaiah said, “Here am I send me.”

Unlike Isaiah, so many today are not available to do the Lord’s will. Some Men have put a sign around their life that says, DO NOT DISTRUB. I’m just too busy right now. I have too many things going on in my life. I just don’t have time to serve God. And they’re running around like chickens with their heads cut off with no direction in life. Maybe you feel that way much of the time, you have too many irons in the fire and you feel like you just can’t catch up; there aren’t enough hours in the day to serve God.
But let me remind you of something, Moses was busy with the flocks at Horeb, Gideon was threshing wheat by the winepress, Saul was mule hunting, Elisha was busy plowing, Nehemiah was the cupbearer to the King, James and John were busy mending nets, and Matthew was busy collecting taxes. BUT THEY ALL RESPONDED TO GOD’S CALL OF SERVICE! If you are too busy to be available to God, then allow God to rearrange your schedule and use you.

The Most Excellent Way

Summary: Paul is saying, "I want to show you the best way to take care of virtually every situation, & that is the way of love." Then he points out that love is more important than four things Christians consider very important.

TEXT: 1 Corinthians 13:1 - 3 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal. 2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. 3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, but have not love, it profits me nothing.

I. THE IMPORTANCE OF LOVE IN OUR LIVES
He is saying, " love is more important than four other things that Christians consider very important.
A. In vs. 1, Paul says that love is more important than spiritual gifts. "If I speak in the tongues of men & of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal." (1 Corinthians 13:1)
Here, Paul is saying that even if he were so blessed that he could speak with the greatest in every language, but didn't have love, then his life was useless.

SUM. You see, love is more important than any spiritual gift.
B. Then in vs. 2 Paul says that love is more important than knowledge. "And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. " (1 Corinthians 13:2)

Paul says that even if you know it all - if you know everything there is to know about nuclear science, medicine & philosophy & psychology & every other kind of “ology” - if you know it all, but have not love, then you are nothing at all.

Why? Paul says in 1 Corinthians 8:1, "Knowledge puffs up, but love builds up." Now concerning things offered to idols: We know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffs up, but love edifies.
For the hearts of people need to change before society will ever change. 2 Chronicles 7:14 if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.

C. Thirdly, Paul says that love is more important than faith. Now he doesn't say that faith is not important. He just says that love is more important. He said, "If I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing." (1 Corinthians 13:2)
But what is your faith? Do you believe that God is the creator of the world? Do you believe that Jesus Christ is His only begotten Son, & that He came into our world & lived a sinless life, & that He died & was buried & on the third day rose again?

Do you believe that He is now at the right hand of the Father, & is preparing a place for us, & that one day He will come again?
If you believe all those things, then well & good & I commend you for it. But the Bible teaches that if you believe all the right things, but do not have love, then you are nothing. Because even faith is of no value unless it is backed up by love.

ILL. The priest & the Levite in the parable of the Good Samaritan had faith. The problem was they had no love. So they walked by on the other side & just left the man lying there to die. Luke 10:25-37
In Galatians 5:6 Paul says, "The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love."

D. Fourthly, love is more important than generosity. Paul says, "If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing." (1 Corinthians 13:3)
Now notice that he doesn't say, "If I give 10%." He says, " if I give everything away to help the poor, & even sacrifice myself, but I don't have love then I gain nothing at all."

You see, generosity by itself is not enough. I'm sure some of you get calls all the time , from people in need for worthwhile causes.
But why give? Do you give because the preacher just preached a sermon on stewardship? Or, because you feel guilty if you don't? Do you give because you want to impress others around you?
If the only reason that I give is to receive or to benefit myself, then love is absent, & giving is empty. The motive for giving should be love, love for God & love for God's people.

SUM. So Paul is saying that love is more important than spiritual gifts, more important than knowledge, more important than faith, & more important than generosity.

Power in The Blood

Text: Matthew 26: 27 And He took the cup and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink all of it. 28 For this is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.
Intro: Jesus has gathered his disciples together for the Last Supper. As these men gather around him, he holds up the cup and begins to explain that his blood is the New Covenant and that his blood is sufficient. Where as the blood of goats and bulls for 4000 years has not met the requirements for the fulfilling of the law, HIS BLOOD IS SUFFICIENT. This is what He was talking about when he said that He had come to fulfill the law not do away with it.
Matthew 5:17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.
That He in one selfless loving act would do what no other sacrifice had been able to do and would begin a new covenant with the God of Creation. A blood covenant that if anyone would trust in the power of this blood, they would receive
REDEMPTION; ATONEMENT; HEALING ; PROTECTION ; DELIVERANCE; STRENGTH; TRANSFORMATION
There is wonder working power in the precious blood of the Lamb of God, power to take away the sins of the world.
I.His Blood Has the power to Redeem
“Redeemed, redeemed, redeemed by the blood of the lamb. Redeemed, redeemed, His child forever I am.”
II. His Blood has the Power to Transform
It is the blood of Jesus that when applied to our lives makes the worst sinners, transforms them body soul and spirit into a new creature formed in the image of God’s Holiness.
III. His Blood has The Power To Give Life
A. Blood is our source of life; without it coursing through our veins life will cease in this physical body.
B. You cannot survive without blood
C. Without the blood of Christ applied to our spirit & soul we are bound for the certainty of the second death
IV. His Blood Has The Power To Heal & Protect
A. Whenever a virus attacks our physical body and begins to make us sick, our blood begins to fight with all that it has attacking this virus with white blood cells.
B. When the enemy of your soul rises up against you, the blood of our Lord and Savior covers us like a shield & that enemy that would destroy our soul is repealed.
C. Why? Because there is wonder working power in the blood of the Lamb.
V. His Blood has the Power To Deliver
A. It is the power of the blood of Jesus that breaks the yoke of bo***ge of sin from our lives
B. He does not just forgive us and leave us in the grips of Satan but by the power of the blood of Christ we experience freedom from sin.
Galatians 5:1 Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bo***ge.
VI. His Blood is Still Powerful Today
A. He’s Blood is still saving sinners, setting captive free today
B. His Blood is still sufficient
The blood of Jesus will never need to be replaced nor recharged in our lives.
Have you experienced the wonder working power of the blood of the Lamb?

Forgiveness and Relationships

Summary: Taking seriously the command of Jesus to forgive -- what it means and what it does not mean.

Scripture: Matthew 18:21-18:35
In the scripture today, Jesus points to the importance of forgiveness in this business of loving each other. Peter initiates the discussion when he says, “Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother when he sins against me? Up to seven times?” Jesus said, “I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times.” And if the truth were told, we are shocked that Jesus demands this kind of forgiveness as well. We often withhold forgiveness after just one offence, let alone seventy-seven times.

There is no love without forgiveness, and there is no forgiveness without love. Love is what makes life wonderful, but it is the most complex part of life as well, and human relationships are among the most difficult aspects of life. A loving person is a forgiving person. This should be obvious, but for many people this is the place where they get stuck the most. Remember that Jesus said: “But I tell you who hear me: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you” (Luke 6:27)

The problem is that in the Christian community we have not even learned how to love our friends, let alone our enemies. Jesus said, “And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive him, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins” (Mark 11:25).

But you cannot pray the Lord’s prayer unless you are willing to forgive those who sinned against you. Do not pray, “Forgive our sins as we forgive those who sin against us,” if you haven’t forgiven others and do not mean it. If you gloss over that part of the Lord’s prayer, or if you think you are forgiving most people, just not everyone, then it is better not to pray the prayer at all.

And he was the ultimate example of his teaching when he prayed at his crucifixion, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing” (Luke 23:34). But what if the person knew exactly what they were doing? What then? What if the harm was intentional and purposeful? Jesus addressed that when he said: “Do not take revenge, my friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: ‘It is mine to avenge; I will repay,’ says the Lord” (Romans 12:19).

Jesus said, “So watch yourselves. If your brother sins, rebuke him, and if he repents, forgive him. If he sins against you seven times in a day, and seven times comes back to you and says, ‘I repent,’ forgive him” (Luke 17:3-4). It is interesting to note the disciple’s immediate response to Jesus’ words: “Increase our faith!” (Luke 17:5).

The Bible says, “Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult, but with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing” (1 Peter 3:9). We treat people better than they deserve. It means blessing instead of cursing. It means giving without thought of being repaid. It means being generous and open-hearted toward others. Because we have received grace from God, and he has treated us better than we deserved, we treat others with that same spirit. The Bible says, “Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone” (Colossians 4:6). Find somebody nobody else loves and love them.” That is what it means to exhibit the grace and kindness of Christ. Jesus said, “I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me” (Matthew 25:40).

Experience a breakthrough in whatever situation you are facing.

Psalm 112:4 A light shines in the darkness for the upright, for the one who is gracious, compassionate, and just.

You may not see how it could ever work out. The problems may look impossible. But God has you in the palm of His hand. He desires for you to experience peace, blessings, favor — and every good thing He promises in His Word. So keep moving ahead! God is with you, and He wants you to live breakthrough-minded. I’ve learned that when it’s difficult and things aren’t going our way, that’s when it’s easiest for people to lose their joy, lose their vision, lose their enthusiasm. But I want to encourage you to do just the opposite. Right in the midst of a challenge is the time — more than ever — to expect a flood of God’s favor, healing, and provision. Times may seem tough, but I know the God of the breakthrough is about to turn it around.

When it’s difficult, don’t give up. You are in prime position to see the light come bursting in!
A breakthrough is a sudden burst of God’s favor. You didn’t earn it. You don’t deserve it. But because God loves you, He gives it to you. Every obstacle will be overcome, every enemy will be defeated and every God-given dream will come true in Jesus Mighty Name!

03/13/2024

God wants His people to do three things.

if God’s people would do three things, God would respond in three ways. The Lord’s people needed to become humble, that is, confess; they needed to pray, or repent; and they needed to turn, or come back to Him. If they did, God would hear, forgive, and heal them.

2 Chronicles 7:14 If We Repent
14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

This verse has a message for me and you. “My people”—God has a people which we call the church or the body of Christ, those who have accepted the Savior, “Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works” (Titus 2:14).

1 Kings 9:3 And the Lord said to him: “I have heard your prayer and your supplication that you have made before Me; I have consecrated this house which you have built to put My name there forever, and My eyes and My heart will be there perpetually.

Are we all God’s children, or only Christians?

We hear it all the time: “We are all God’s children!” Sounds good, doesn’t it? All humanity united in one family. With one Father. All brother and sisters with Christ Jesus.
The Bible is clear that all people are God’s creation We all belong to Him because He formed us. We were made by Him and for Him (Colossians 1:16 For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or [a]principalities or [b]powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. Made in His image (Genesis 1:26-27). Made for His glory (Isaiah 43:7 Everyone who is called by My name, Whom I have created for My glory; I have formed him, yes, I have made him.”)
But that’s not what God says in His Word, not all people are children of God.

Not everyone is a child of God, It is very common to hear people claim, “We are all God’s children.” However, to become one of God’s children, one must be adopted—in, by, and through—the One Who is the Son: Jesus Christ. Those who are not adopted are not children of God. John explains:
“He came to His own, and those who were His own did not receive Him. But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name, who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God,” (John 1:11-13).

1 John 3:4-104 Whoever commits sin also commits lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness. 5 And you know that He was manifested to take away our sins, and in Him there is no sin. 6 Whoever abides in Him does not sin. Whoever sins has neither seen Him nor known Him.7 Little children, let no one deceive you. He who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous. 8 He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil. 9 Whoever has been born of God does not sin, for His seed remains in him; and he cannot sin, because he has been born of God. 10 In this the children of God and the children of the devil are manifest: Whoever does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor is he who does not love his brother.).

Even those who claim to be children of God belongs to Satan
The apostle James warns Christians not to verbally describe God as unimportant with pretenses spirit: “With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse human beings, who have been made in God’s likeness. Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers and sisters, this should not be” (James 3:9).
John makes a distinction between the world and the children of God. Not all are God’s children, only those He has made His own by grace. John records Jesus’ own words to those who claimed to be God’s children but did not believe in Jesus:
The children of God are a distinct people, not the whole of mankind. We also see Jesus’ earlier words about those who are and are not His sheep. He explains His role in gathering the scattered flocks that belong to Him“I am the good shepherd, and I know My own and My own know Me, even as the Father knows Me and I know the Father; and I lay down My life for the sheep. I have other sheep, which are not of this fold; I must bring them also, and they will hear My voice; and they will become one flock with one shepherd,” (John 10:14-16).
And yet He also explains that there are those who reject Him because they are not His sheep:
“You do not believe because you are not of My sheep. My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me; and I give eternal life to them, and they will never perish; and no one will sn**ch them out of My hand,” (John 10:26-28).

You were not born a child of God. You only become one by God’s grace through faith in Christ Jesus. We become God’s children when we are saved because we are adopted into God’s family through our relationship with Jesus Christ and not by natural birth
The apostle John explains that we become God’s children through grace rather than birthright. Even though Jesus was rejected by many, John 1:11–13 11 He came to His [a]own, and His [b]own did not receive Him. 12 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the [c]right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: 13 who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. In other words, not everyone wears the title “child of God.” Those who are saved are children “of God through faith in Christ Jesus”

Idols and Repentance

Colossians 3:5-7 “So put to death the sinful, earthly things lurking within you. Have nothing to do with sexual sin, impurity, lust, and shameful desires. Don't be greedy for the good things of this life, for that is idolatry. God's terrible anger will come upon those who do such things. ”

“Don't be greedy for the good things of this life, for that is idolatry…” People everywhere are caught up in the “good things of this life. We must pay attention. We’ve got to address what hinders our walk with God and let it go! To take authority, we’ve got to release the sins and repent. The Word points out that man looks at the outward appearance but God looks at our hearts. Our hearts are guilty before the Lord. God is done with the mess we call righteous living. We have to destroy idol worship. We have gone long enough with a wink and a nod toward sin in the Body.
The Word says it’s better to obey than sacrifice. When God says to repent, we must repent. God hates idolatry. It’s a commandment and God has been judging -- yes, judging righteous people on earth for it since time began. It’s true, He loves us and yes HE HAS A PLAN for each of us but only in His parameters.

2 Chronicles 7:14
Then if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and heal their land.
