CITY OF CAPE MAY OFFICE OF EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT
Public Notice: Winter Storm Preparedness and Operations Update
The Cape May Office of Emergency Management (OEM) continues to actively monitor an approaching winter storm. OEM has been conducting preparedness meetings with all public safety and public service departments to ensure a coordinated response. We are also in communication with our County and State partners as well as utility companies to ensure resources and plans are in place prior to the expected impacts of the storm.
A State of Emergency may be issued at either the State or local level depending on developing weather conditions. Residents are strongly encouraged to prepare now and remain alert to official updates.

PUBLIC WORKS AND PLOWING OPERATIONS
To allow Department of Public Works crews and snowplows to safely maneuver and efficiently clear roadways:
- Utilize off-street parking wherever possible.
- Remove trash cans, recycling containers, and other items from roadways and sidewalks.
- Keep vehicles and obstructions well clear of intersections, hydrants, and corners.
- For public safety, please avoid unnecessary travel during the storm so plow trucks and emergency vehicles can operate safely and effectively.

WINTER SAFETY & PREPAREDNESS TIPS
Residents are encouraged to take basic safety precautions in advance of the storm:
- Have emergency supplies on hand, including flashlights, extra batteries, food, and water.
- Avoid overexertion when shoveling snow.
- Keep pets indoors and check on neighbors, especially seniors or those requiring assistance.
- Dress warmly in layers and limit time outdoors.
- Prevent frozen pipes by allowing heat to circulate and letting faucets drip slightly.
