Happy New Year!
We have been busy planning for the 2025 season. We would like to thank Allen Steel for
Another successful trip out to the light. The doors are reinstalled, however while on site, some damage was found in the lantern room. One of the curved glass panels has been damaged. This makes the lighthouse not weather tight. Our new goals include new doors, and fixing the broken glass.

This is unbelievable….

We have completed the truss system for holding the new catwalks which will allow access from the main dock over to the main gallery deck on Brandywine Shoal Lighthouse, so that the Aid to Navigation team from the United States Coast Guard can safely re-light the lighthouse. We are awaiting approval by the National Park service who are worried about the use of aluminum- they would prefer wood, so it can all float away again- in the hope of being more historically accurate? Failure would be more accurate……

In any can we need your help to bring this expensive new catwalk system to life.

The new catwalks for Brandywine Shoal have been constructed by Bluewater Welding & Fabrication of Dennisville, NJ. This improvement out of aluminum will not only allow for wind and wave action to pass through the grating instead of floating, but also incorporates railings for safety of anyone entering the lighthouse, including the United States Coast Guard.

All plans have been submitted to the National Park Service who ultimately decides whether or not we can use the already built catwalks and we await their decision so we can place the catwalks on location, hopefully before winter.

The decision of the National Park Service, NJ State Historic Preservation Office and the fall/ winter weather, will decide when the access to Brandywine Shoal is restored.

Our latest trip to Brandywine Shoal to finalize the plan for the dock replacement in aluminum to allow for wind and water to pass through it as opposed to the old dock which was attached with six bolts and made of timber and plastic which floated away in Winter Storm Jonas in January of 2016.
