Cape Girardeau County & Surrounding Areas: We are thinking of you.

The flash flooding that just moved through our area was incredibly fast and severe. To everyone dealing with flooded roads, property damage, or the stress of checking on loved ones—please stay safe.

When skies turn dark and waters rise quickly, it takes a massive toll on our emotional well-being. Storm anxiety, hyper-vigilance, and panic are completely natural responses.

In this quick segment of Behavioral Health Bytes, we talk about why storms trigger these strong feelings and share practical tools to help manage storm anxiety and ground yourself when overwhelmed.

Take a deep breath, look out for your neighbors, and remember you don’t have to navigate this stressful aftermath alone. Community Counseling Center is here to help you find your way forward.

One of the highlights of the day was offering temporary tattoos featuring positive, empowering messages that attendees of all ages enjoyed. It was inspiring to see so many organizations come together to provide valuable resources, support, and information for local families.
Thank you to everyone who stopped by our booth and to the coalition for hosting such a meaningful event. We are grateful for opportunities like this to strengthen connections and support the well-being of our communities.

June is Men’s Mental Health Awareness Month, a time to recognize the unique challenges men face and encourage open conversations about mental health, resilience, recovery, and hope.
At Community Counseling Center, we believe that strength isn't about facing struggles alone—it's about having the courage to seek support, share your story, and keep moving forward.
That's why we're especially excited about our upcoming 2026 Thriving Together: A Community Behavioral Health + Wellness Conference on July 22, 2026, at the Show Me Center in Cape Girardeau. This free, public event will feature two incredible keynote speakers whose stories embody perseverance, healing, and resilience: Bobby Henline, retired U.S. Army Staff Sergeant, motivational speaker, comedian, and burn survivor, and Darryl Strawberry, eight-time MLB All-Star, four-time World Series Champion, and nationally recognized recovery advocate. Their powerful journeys remind us that even through life's toughest challenges, hope and recovery are possible.
This Men's Mental Health Awareness Month, we invite you to join the conversation, support the men in your life, and make plans to attend a day dedicated to building stronger, healthier communities together.

Today, we pause to honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our country. Their courage, dedication, and selflessness have helped preserve the freedoms we enjoy every day.
As we gather with family and friends this Memorial Day, we encourage everyone to take a moment to reflect on those who gave their lives in service to our nation and the loved ones who carry their memory forward.
From all of us at Community Counseling Center, we extend our gratitude and remembrance to our fallen heroes.
