In every Mercy facility, you can find our Mission statement on the wall. What does "mission" mean, anyway?

To be sent.

In these images from the Cathedral Basilica of St. Louis, we see disciples gifted with the Holy Spirit at Pentecost as they were sent to all the people of the world. We also see a Sister of Mercy sent to St. Louis, serving alongside other sisters, to found ministries of healing and education.

We are so blessed to be sent to serve the communities that need it most.

He most recently served as vice president of talent at Mercy, leading teams that support caregivers across the system and strengthen our workforce.

Allyson Maus, a speech therapist at Mercy Hospital Aurora, says rural healthcare holds a special place in her heart because it lets her care for people and the community at the same time.

“In small towns, care goes beyond clinical skills. It’s about building trust, understanding each person’s situation and helping patients feel supported every step of the way.”

Strong rural health teams make better outcomes possible, and that kind of care is worth fighting for as access and funding remain under pressure in small communities.
