One of the sneakiest threats to recovery? Boredom. 🧠

When your schedule is empty and your mind is loud, that's when old patterns like to creep back in. That's why building a routine matters so much, even a simple one. Wake up around the same time. Have somewhere to be. Give your day some structure.

And if you need help filling your calendar with things that actually feel good? That's literally what we're here for. Come see what's happening at WDRCC this week. We have locations in Cape Girardeau and Sikeston.

September is National Recovery Month, and we just want to say…we see you. 💜
Whether you're on day one or year ten, your recovery matters. Your fight matters. And the courage it takes to keep choosing yourself, day after day? That deserves to be celebrated!

This month, we're honoring every single person who has walked through our doors, and every person who hasn't yet but is thinking about it. Recovery is real. Recovery is possible. And at WDRCC, recovery is something we live every single day. We hope to see you in Cape Girardeau or Sikeston.

Today is International Overdose Awareness Day.

For 25 years, this day has been a time to remember the lives we’ve lost to overdose, but it’s also a day to remind people that overdose is preventable and recovery is possible.

When we talk about overdose, we’re not talking about statistics. We’re talking about somebody’s son or daughter, somebody’s mom or dad, somebody’s best friend. We’re talking about people who were loved and whose lives mattered.

We’ve made progress. Overdose deaths are declining nationally, and that gives us hope. But our work isn’t finished.

We have tools that save lives. Narcan saves lives. Treatment saves lives. Recovery support saves lives. And sometimes simply treating someone with dignity instead of judgment can be the first step toward them asking for help.

If you love someone who is struggling, don’t give up on them. If you’re struggling yourself, please know that there are people in this community ready to walk beside you.

Today we remember those we’ve lost, we stand beside the people who are still struggling, and we celebrate every person who has found recovery.

Because every life is worth saving.

Whatever you're carrying today, someone at WDRCC has carried something like it. That's the power of a peer-operated center. You're not alone in a waiting room. You're in a room full of people who understand, who've struggled, and who've found a way forward. We encourage you to come find that room. Cape Girardeau & Sikeston. We’re here for you!

You don't need an hour to meditate. 👉 Try this right now:

Set a timer for 60 seconds. Close your eyes. Focus only on your breath...in and out. When your mind wanders, gently come back. That's it. One minute of mindfulness lowers cortisol, reduces anxiety, and builds the mental muscle that protects your recovery. One minute! You have it.
