Thank you to all the volunteers who joined today in S**o.

Together we sorted, labeled and bagged 310 blankets and I have just a few bags we didn’t get through.

Most of these will likely deliver to the Rare Disease Programs in June at Camp Sunshine. As many of you know, we typically provide approximately 1,000 blankets a year to the kids attending Camp Sunshine. They have camps all year long but the highest volume is in the next few months.

I was so busy working that I didn’t take nearly enough photos of the volunteers or the blankets. We had so many quilts, afghans and fleece blankets. THANK YOU!!

I thought I would share a few photos of a fleece blanket type that I have been making with the cutoff edges left from backing quilts.

(I will take pictures at all the steps next time and update this post. )

I save pieces that are 6” or wider. And zigzag them together. Takes me 30-45 minutes to make these and then another 30 minutes to put a fleece back on it.

Simple instructions:

1) Make sure your front side has straight edges

2) overlap the pieces by about an inch (measuring isn’t necessary). I pin the larger pieces about every 6-12 inches as fleece is so stretchy.

3) zigzag stitch along the edge of the front piece. (If your machine lets you adjust stitch size I lengthen the stitch size quite a lot. )

4) trim up the outer edges to square.

5) repeat steps 1-4 adding more fleece until the blanket is between 45 - 60 inches. Make sure you keep the overlap on the back side.

6) use a piece of fleece to back this blanket. Put right sides together for the top and the backing

7) sew around the outside leaving an opening to flip. ( I use a wide seam and a longer stitch length than I do with cotton blankets.

8 ) turn the blanket right side out.

9) top stitch (1/4 to 1/2 inch in from the edge) around the blanket making sure to have a good seam at the place where you flipped your blanket right side out.

We had a very productive blanket day on Sunday. The volunteers dropped off and helped label and bag over 250 blankets.

Dawn achieved a personal record for labels sewn😂.

And so much fabric, fleece and yarn was distributed for your next Project Linus Blankets.

Thank you to every volunteer!

Remember you can always drop off blankets at any of our dropoff locations (in photos below).

Also we are so happy to receive all types & sizes of new, handcrafted quilts, knitted and crocheted blankets and fleece.

We serve kids from infant to age 18, so all sizes, patterns & colors are needed.

Thanks!

Pam

Thank you to the amazing volunteers who joined for blanket day yesterday. We collected and labeled over 300 blankets for kids in our community.

The knitters, crocheters and quilters have been busy ! I did not take enough photos of your beautiful work, here are the few that I captured.

Last week I delivered 180 blankets to Camp Sunshine for their February and March Campers. These camps are for Oncology, grief, and transplant patients. It is rewarding to support their campers throughout the year!

This week I will deliver to the Barbara Bush Childrens Hospital in Portland.

Thank you to each and every volunteer who helps make this possible!

Remember, You can drop off completed blankets at any of our drop off locations.
