CAPE ARENA PROJECT UPDATE | SEPTEMBER 2026
We’re excited to share where the proposed permanent Cape Community Arena at Gull Crest stands as we enter an important stage of the Town approval process.
Following Town Council authorization in June 2025, our volunteer team has worked alongside professional engineers and architects to complete the extensive site studies, engineering and planning required for the project.
On August 18, we reached an important milestone: the Planning Board deemed our site plan application complete, clearing the way for formal public hearings and review!
The arena is planned as a four-phase project from 2027–2030. Cape Arena is 100% privately funded, with no municipal tax dollars requested for construction, operation or maintenance. Phase 1 funding is secured through capital contributions and a construction loan, and no phase will begin until funding for that phase is secured.
We’re also committed to thoughtfully coexisting with all who enjoy Gull Crest. In response to feedback from members of the Gull Crest Community Garden and public comments, updated plans protect Community Garden access, relocate Town storage to avoid shading garden plots, and improve stormwater management to direct runoff away from growing areas.
For five seasons, Cape Arena has shown what this resource can provide. Last season alone: 670+ hours of ice time, including 400 hours of FREE open skate for our community.
