is a 501c3 organization created to provide hope to women in distress via resources, empowerment and education as they navigate difficult life transitions. Although Alice often shared loving memories of her early childhood in Miami, her teenage years were marked by challenges which led her to mature quickly. She played
a significant role in helping to raise her 4 younger siblings, whom she loved deeply. During this time, she became caught in a cycle of addiction and difficult environments that seemed impossible to escape. By the age of 26, Alice had two beautiful daughters that she loved more than anything. Despite her personal struggles, Alice always made ends meet and tried to provide a stable home life for her daughters. Anyone who has faced the relentless grip of
addiction understands how it affects every aspect of life and how challenging it is to overcome. Despite numerous relapses, she poured her heart into the fight and never lost hope. The profound love for her family remained a driving force as she worked
tirelessly to overcome the challenges in her life. In August 2000, at nearly 40 years old, Alice finally freed herself from the reigns of addiction. She attributes her success to the support from her family, her faith, and her own determination to achieve sobriety. In pursuit of a better life, she began studying to
become a certified nursing assistant (CNA). She worked as a caregiver for the elderly and quickly realized that was her calling but her past legal troubles presented yet
another hurdle. Determined to never let her past define her, she appealed to the Florida Board of Nursing to gain certification. She wrote and submitted a formal statement,
presented her case in person and shared her story. Her honesty and perseverance resonated with the board, leading them to approve her appeal and grant her certification. Alice then dedicated herself to providing love and care for the elderly in
their final stages of life and often shared moving stories from her experiences. In addition to her compassion as a caregiver, Alice had many passions. They meant the world to her, and she relished every opportunity to brag about them and spoil them because “that’s what grandmas are for”. Known for her supportive, caring, and positive energy, she was a constant source of love and encouragement to everyone she knew. She never missed an opportunity to express her love, ask about their day, and support them through their own tough times. When Alice was only 55 years old in 2016, she received the diagnosis everyone dreads: Cancer. As she faced yet another battle, she was scared but bravely continued to fight
because according to Alice, giving up was not an option. Following surgery and radiation, doctors declared that the cervical cancer was in remission. Alice embraced every sunrise with gratitude, lived each moment to the fullest, and cherished every new
memory made. During this period, she was blessed with a great-grandchild. However, six years after her initial diagnosis, a recurrence of cancer would thrust her life into turmoil once again. Faced with numerous specialists, appointments, and difficult decisions, Alice clung to her faith and family. She gave her all and remained hopeful, but despite the grueling chemotherapy, loss of her beautiful long blonde hair, and aggressive radiation, the
cancer continued to spread. Yet, she still didn’t give up and kept her unwavering sense of gratitude as she was then blessed with her second great-grandchild. Shortly thereafter, the secondary effects of the treatment led to her hospitalization in late March
2024, and she passed away on April 7th. As we mourn the devastating loss of our mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, we also celebrate her life and honor her legacy. Inspired by her belief in second chances and helping others, we are dedicated to continuing what she taught us
and will never give up on those seeking a better life. Her journey stands as a testament to strength and hope, with her perseverance serving as an inspiration to others…a true
story of redemption. Through Alice's Wings of Hope, we will offer support, even in the smallest ways, to those striving for a better life. We want them to know they are not alone and that the most challenging obstacles can lead to the sweetest rewards. We ask that you join our
