Today, on World Teachers’ Day, we celebrate some truly extraordinary teachers.

Special needs teachers teach so much more than what can be found in a lesson plan.

They celebrate the word that took months to say.
The skill that took hundreds of tries.
The moment a child felt brave enough to participate.
The small step forward that everyone else might miss, but they know is HUGE. 💙

They adapt. They encourage. They advocate. They find another way when the first way doesn’t work.

And perhaps most importantly, they see the child first. They recognize strengths, possibilities, personality and potential.

To every special education teacher who shows up with patience, creativity and a belief in your students:

Thank you for seeing possibilities where others may see limitations.
