The Smiley Fund Inc. was born out of a shared commitment among three friends determined to make a difference in the fight against brain cancer.

Our mission is to raise funds and awareness for those affected by this relentless disease.

Astrocytomas are the most common type of glioma, a group of brain tumors that originate from glial cells. This tumor arises from star-shaped cells that make up the “glue-like” or supportive tissue of the brain. Adult astrocytomas are estimated to account for 3.5% of all primary brain tumors with approximately 1,500 new diagnoses in the United States each year.

We created this educational series to make it easy for you to help and learn more about brain cancer. Today, we’re discussing glioblastoma. One of the most complex and fatal cancers. It’s also one of the most common primary brain cancers, yet it only receives a fraction of the funding it deserves and needs.
