🎣🐟 Introducing the 1st Annual Cape Carteret Kids Fishing Tournament! 🐟🎣

Grab your fishing pole and join us for a morning of fishing, fun, and friendly competition!

📅 Saturday, September 19, 2026
📍 Cape Carteret, NC
👧🧒 Ages 14 & Under

⏰ Schedule:
• Registration & Rules Meeting: 8:00 AM
• Fishing Tournament: 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM
• Lunch & Awards Ceremony to Follow

This is a FREE land-based fishing tournament, but all participants must be registered. Registration will open in July.

🏆 Awards will be presented in several categories, including:
• First Fish
• Biggest Fish
• Smallest Fish
• And more!

🪱 Bait will be provided.
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 All children must be accompanied by an adult.

🚒🚑 Babysitter Course Sign-Ups Now Open! 🚑🚒

Havelock Fire-Rescue is hosting the American Red Cross Babysitter’s Course for youth ages 11–16 — a great opportunity to build confidence, learn safety skills, and prepare for real-world responsibility!

🧸 Participants will learn how to:
✅ Care for children safely
✅ Respond to emergencies
✅ Perform basic first aid
✅ Make smart, confident decisions

Although American women won the right to vote in 1920, for many women, especially mothers, the logistics of voting was more than a simple trip to the polls. For decades, women were expected to stay at home and with their children, so mothers had to choose between voting and childcare.

Girl Scouts stepped in. From day one, Girl Scouts supported women in their efforts to exercise their right to vote through education and by offering free babysitting services outside polling places.
