Summer has a way of filling our calendars fast, between work, family, activities, and trying to soak up a little sunshine along the way.

Sometimes it helps to have one place filled with ideas, encouragement, and resources that make everyday life just a little easier.

This month’s FCH newsletter is packed with meaningful content, upcoming events, practical tips, and simple inspiration for caring for yourself, your home, and the people around you.

We hope it feels less like “one more thing to read” and more like a helpful conversation with your community. ♥️

We are praying.. 🙏🏼♥️

Our hearts are with our Canyon community following the devastating fires and evacuations last night. We are especially grateful for the first responders, firefighters, law enforcement, emergency crews, and neighbors who stepped in to protect lives and property during an incredibly difficult night.

To every family impacted, displaced, or uncertain today, please know the Canyon community stands with you. The Canyon Chamber of Commerce is here to help support, connect resources, and share community needs as we move forward together.

Canyon has always been a community that shows up for one another in hard times, and we know that spirit will continue in the days ahead. Please continue praying for safety, containment, and for all those affected.

If you or your business has immediate needs, resources to offer, or ways the Chamber can help connect support efforts, please reach out to us directly. ❤️

Children are our most precious passengers, and something as simple as a properly installed car seat can save lives. Did you know the Texas Department of Transportation reports that nearly 46% of child car seats are used incorrectly? That’s why we’re hosting a FREE Car Seat Check-Up Event this Wednesday at the Canyon Library! 🚗🩵

Certified technicians will help ensure your child’s seat is installed correctly and fits your child safely, because every ride matters.

Children don’t just listen to what we say.. they learn from what we do.

The way we respond, communicate, manage stress, and show kindness becomes part of how they understand the world.

Small moments of connection build:
✨ Confidence
✨ Emotional security
✨ Communication skills
✨ Healthy relationships
✨ Lifelong coping skills

Ways to be present today:
• Make eye contact during conversations
• Put phones away for a few minutes
• Listen without rushing to fix
• Invite them into everyday tasks
• Model calm and kindness
• Celebrate effort, not perfection

You don’t have to be perfect to make a lasting impact.
Being present is powerful.

This weekend we hosted our first canning workshop of the season, and our very first cooking class in our newly renovated space! It was an absolute joy to meet everyone, share research-backed food preservation practices, and spend time learning together.

Weekends like this are a reminder of what Extension does best: bringing people together, building confidence through education, and creating practical skills that serve families for years to come.

We’re grateful for everyone who joined us and can’t wait for all that’s ahead this season..♥️
