Dear District 5840 Rotarians

I want to personally thank everyone who has responded to my emails, come out to volunteer, or worked within their communities to help the recent flood victims.

The volunteers who came to help in Kerrville this last weekend made a tremendous impact on one family's recovery. In concert with Operation Blessings and Mercy Chefs we were able to clean the family's house and help locate the homeowner's wallet. In addition we've received the good news that his wife has been transferred out of ICU and may be discharged from the hospital soon.

To those who were able to come help:
From the bottom of my heart--Thank You.
You've shown what it means to be a Rotarian at Work.

To those who have helped in their own communities, donated money, or just lent a helping hand where they could: Thank you. Every one of you exemplifies Service Above Self.

As we look forward, if you find flood related (or other) projects you think District 5840 Rotarians can help with, please reach out and let me know.

As he thanked his 2025-2026 board members, outgoing President Jim Cox noted that when he was asked to be club president, he admitted he "thought, "Sure, how hard can it be?" I said yes without thinking it all the way through. What I didn't anticipate and what has made all the difference is the extraordinary group of people standing beside me this year. You supported me, guided me, and gave me the grace to learn. Through you, I came to truly understand what this club is, what Rotary stands for, and the remarkable depth of talent and dedication within our membership. We are a group of accomplished professionals who give generously not just of our time and treasure, but of ourselves.
"And I want to say this clearly: our community may not always see the full picture of what you do. The service hours, the projects, the causes you champion both inside and outside of Rotary much of it goes unnoticed by the world. But it does not go unnoticed here. What you give is genuinely selfless, and while I know none of you are looking for an award, every one of you has earned one."
