Let's help them out! Your beach could be next!

Senate Bill 2188 by Senator Adam Hinojosa and HB 4660 by Rep. Janie Lopez were filed last week in the Texas legislative session. Both of these bills would grant authority to SpaceX, if they become a municipality, to close the highway to Boca Chica anytime they want for any reason they want.

Since there is only one highway going to Boca Chica Island this would close the beach to the public for extended periods of time, days maybe even weeks at a time.

Please call the members of the State Affairs Committee this week and let them know that we're very much opposed to these bills, that it's a violation of the Texas Open Beaches Act since it would severely restrict beach access to the public.

PLEASE CALL AS MANY OF THE MEMBERS OF THE STATE AFFAIRS COMMITTEE AS POSSIBLE, THEIR NAMES AND NUMBERS ARE LISTED BELOW.

THIS COMMITTEE HAS HEARD HB 4660 AND LEFT THE BILL PENDING WHICH MEANS THAT THEY WILL BE HEARING IT AGAIN SOON AND MAY VOTE ON IT.
