Spring has sprung and summer is quickly on its way. There will be hot days, ice cold drinks, gatherings with friends and family, and delicious barbecues with all the fixings.

Which means it is the time of year for our annual Bar-B-Que Bonanza Raffle to support the Reginald L. Sapp scholarship. Reggie was a proud member of the community, and he enjoyed cooking, farming, being a mentor and guiding light to kids near and far and taking care of his friend and family. He was owner of the Red Wagon Farm, a member of the Cornell Cooperative Extension, and Potsdam Farmers Market and when he was not farming, he cooked full course meals and delivered them to family, friends, or anyone who was in need. Reggie was known for his outstanding talents for grilling and Bar_B-Que and if you were ever lucky enough to taste his food, then you know that every morsel was made with love, and came with a side of joy, respect, compassion, and kindness.

We cannot begin to express our gratitude to the community and all who have supported us with this scholarship. It is because of your continued love, support, and generosity this past year that Reggie has continued touching the lives of kids, the farming community and the Cornell Cooperative Extension in profound ways. Last year we were able to send a young lady to 4-H camp Overlook and purchase cutting boards for the kids participating in the Cornell Cooperative Extension’s Harvest Kitchen’s summer cooking camp; and with your support we are excited to see if we can do it again and just a little bit more.

Our members will be selling raffle tickets at White’s Flower Shop, NBT Bank, and Pork-N-More farm stand. Please contact Liza Aldous at 315-261-0806, Sigie Barr at White’s Flower Shop at 315-386-3519, Amy Plumadore at NBT 315-386-2265, and Pork-N-More Farm stand at 315-807-9787 for tickets. On June 6the, 2026, we will be in Canton Village Park during the Dairy Festival Parade where you can also purchase tickets. Tickets are $2.00 each or (3) for $5.00 for a chance to win a Megamaster portable grill, grilling utensils, an apron, spices, hand towels, oven kits, and a $50.00 give card to price chopper.

We look forward to seeing you!

Thank you to everyone who came out to see us at Coakley’s Hardware in Canton this Mother’s Day weekend.

We had an amazing weekend providing food and drinks while many of you shopped for your mom, grandmother, wife, sister, aunt, or any woman that has made an important and profound impact on your life and the lives of others.

Coakley’s had an absolutely beautiful selection of flowers, and it was wonderful seeing all the happy and smiling faces walking away with their gorgeous flowers.

We say this often and yet it bares repeating; we could not do the amazing things that we do without you, your generosity, and your kind and loving spirit for this community. With every donation we are given the opportunity to be that profound and important impact on women’s lives right here in St. Lawrence County.

Thank you again and stay tuned! We are moving into our busy season and will be out in the community so please look for us in the park during Dairy Festival.
We will be selling raffle tickets for a chance to win a Bar-B-Que grill with all of the fixings in honor of Reginald L. Sapp and to learn a little bit about what Zonta does in our community.

The Zonta Club of Canton is proud to recognize Roxy and John Coffey for the work they do in our local community with the VFW Canton Post and veterans, and their undying support for the Zonta Club of Canton. Without them we would not have the wonderful turnout and support of the community and its members.

John and Roxy we are truly honored to present you both with a yellow rose for the month of March and we knew immediately that there was no one else we would rather give this to. Thank you for all you do for Canton, Veterans in St. Lawrence County and beyond, and the Zonta Club of Canton!

Congratulations!!
