On Saturday, August 15, 2026, our parish celebrated the 150th Anniversary of the Dedication of St. Mary's Church. The day was filled with festivities including carnival games, an animal exhibit by Lena the Lizard Lady, a parish picnic, and a special Mass with Bishop LaValley and Bishop Lucia.

In just over a week, St. Mary's will be continuing our 150th Anniversary celebrations with a free Organ Concert by Potsdam native, Dr. Benjamin Stone! Come to St. Mary's at 2:00pm on August 9th for a selection of secular and sacred music spanning the last five centuries. The concert will be followed by an ice cream social on the front lawn of the church.

We are pleased to announce that the beautiful 150th Anniversary Book of St. Mary’s in Canton is now available for pre-order!

These full-color coffee-table books are one part history, one part art, one part story book, and one part photo album.

Do you want to understand what the imagery is in the stained glass windows? Do you want to learn how our organ can actually be older than the church? Do you want to remember what priest was the Pastor when you were baptized, or see what the church looked like before the bell-tower was lowered? You want one of these books.
