We got these lilacs a couple years ago from our neighbors and farm shareholders Rebecca and Wil of North Country Lilacs. It's been great to see them get settled in at our location amongst the other homestead plantings. Find your own spring companions at 595 Miner Street Road, Canton. North Country Lilacs is open on the weekends until June 20th: Saturdays 10am-4pm, Sundays noon to 4pm, plus this Monday Memorial Day 10am-4pm. https://northcountrylilacs.com/

Around every corner, new growth! Gave some TLC to the perennial herb garden today, seeing signs of life from mint, thyme, oregano, sorrel, chives, lovage, bee balm, echinacea, rhubarb and self-sown bronze leaf fennel. Thanks to our neighbor Chris for the thoughtful and amazingly timed delivery of wood chips!

Ah seeds. The beginning of everything. We love 'em in every way. It's the time of year when we check the germination rate of seeds held over from seasons beyond the most recent. Some we grew ourselves, a few traded with friends and others we bought in quantities to last several growing seasons to save some money. Nine days ago we set up the germ test with the help of a few community based learning students from St. Lawrence. Today we dug in to see the results of those little gems we kept warm and moist over the past week. It was a delight to visit with the seeds and see what we can plant into the garden soil with confidence. The dry bean seeds that didn't have high rates of germination, we'll enjoy in the kitchen. Thank you seeds, we owe you daily gratitude.
