The largest lay Catholic organization in the United States, with nearly 2 million members, the Knights of Columbus is named after Christopher Columbus, the Catholic explorer who discovered the Americas. The founders chose his name to highlight both their Catholic faith and their patriotism, showing that one could be a loyal American and a faithful Catholic at the same time.

The 2025 donation from the Knights of Columbus #8284 summer league golf league to support AAA Pregnancy Resource Center is $4,152. An additional $500 donation from the council for the AAA’s upcoming annual fundraising dinner and another $400 from the Michigan State Council raises our total 2025 donation to $5,152. We are very proud to support this wonderful organization to this greater extent this year. They are doing God’s work in helping Mothers in need bring their newborn life’s into this world.

Thanks to PGK Mike Goodhart for an outstanding job in making this generous donation again happen this year!

Congratulations to the winning team in our 2025 Charity Golf Outing last Saturday, July 26th! The day looked like a rainout, but the rain, except for a few drops, held off until we were done golfing and were enjoying our dinner and awards ceremony afterwards! The winning team of Lincoln Loiselle, Ben Loiselle, Mike Goodhart and Jay Jackett (pictured left to right below) posted an impressive score of -20 to win the team championship. There were many other winners recognized during the awards presentation and they will be named here later. Thanks to all of our participants, sponsors and hard workers who made our 22nd event another great success! See you all next year!

Congratulations to brother Rick St. Peter for being named Knight of the Month at this week's general meeting. Rick is always performing good deeds for our parish and council, but this Christmas season he even came to work on his days off to make sure the church was appropriately decorated for Christmas. Thank you, Rick for all you do! 👏👏👏

November 2024 - Wrapping up the Kern Council #8284 Summer Golf League for 2024, we recently presented a check to AAA Pregnancy Resource Center to help support the wonderful work they do. The total amount donated to AAA this year totals nearly $3,000! In addition, our golf league funding allowed us to hold a Pro Life Workshop in October at St. Thomas a'Becket Church in Canton. Bottomline, 2024 was another great year of playing golf and raising money for a great charitable cause! Thanks to all our golfers for making this happen! A huge "Thank You" also to Mike Goodhart for all of his work in making the golf league a continuing success and charitable endeavor!

Mike is looking forward to seeing everyone back again in April 2025 for more fun and fund raising on the course at Hickory Creek Golf Club, just east of Canton. Keep an eye on your email starting in February as we plan ahead for next years's season!

The Knights of Council #8284 are ready to go for this weekend's Fall Family Fun Day at St. Thomas a'Becket church in Canton! Hope to see your kids and grandkids there! The fun begins on Saturday, October 19th right after the 4:30 Mass.

The beneficiary of the 2024 Kern Council #8284 charity golf outing is the Wayne Community Outreach Center. They operate a food bank and provide other services to those in need in the local community.

Congratulations to the latest recipients of our Knight of the Month and Family of the Month awards! Msgr Kern Council is happy to award Fr. Chris Maus, Pastor of St. Thomas a'Becket parish, and Kelly Rizzo-McLain, Director of Liturgy & Music Ministry at St. Thomas a'Becket parish, the Knight of the Month and Family of the Month awards respectively. These awards are in recognition of Fr. Chris' along with the parish Music Ministry team contributions in making the first ever Family of Parishes Mass on Labor Day weekend such a wonderful experience. Congratulations Fr. Chris, Kelly and the entire Music & Liturgy team!
