This week we had a strong turnout for a community conversation on data center development and what it could mean for Stark County. The discussion brought together Adam Kramer, Mark Sterling, John Feather, Garret Kloots, and Jeremy Aguero to focus on real numbers, real impacts, and real questions from the community. Here’s what we heard:
• A potential multi-billion dollar investment with long-term implications for local tax revenue, infrastructure, and economic stability
• Thousands of construction-related jobs during buildout and significant opportunities for local suppliers, contractors, and skilled trades alongside ongoing demand for local suppliers and trades
• A growing role for Stark County as part of Ohio’s expanding data center and technology infrastructure footprint
• Direct investment into workforce development, including new opportunities for students entering the trades
We also appreciated the honest discussion around concerns like water usage, power demand, and overall community impact. These are complex projects, and the message from the panel was clear: the planning, engineering, and review process behind these sites is extensive and continues long after construction begins. From the panel: These projects are being designed with a strong focus on environmental impact and community safety. Panelists also emphasized the importance of environmental standards, operational safety, and ongoing accountability. A consistent message throughout the conversation: Projects like these can help create real pathways to local jobs and opening doors for the next generation to enter the trades.
We also want to celebrate the students recognized during the scholarship presentation: Congrats to Jayden Burdette, Aunya Meador, and Alex Miller.
And a big thank you to Panattoni, the panelists, and all local partners, contractors, and businesses who participated.
These conversations matter, and we appreciate everyone who continues to stay engaged as projects like this move forward.
