🎤🧠 “Things OCD therapists say 500 times a day…” 😂

We asked OCD therapists at this year’s OCD conference what phrases they find themselves saying the MOST to their clients… and let’s just say, if you know, you KNOW. 👀😂

From navigating uncertainty to recognizing OCD tricks, these are some phrases that probably sound VERY familiar if you’ve ever worked with an OCD therapist!

Behind the humor is something important: OCD therapists are here to help you step out of the OCD cycle, reconnect with your values, and build a life that OCD doesn’t get to control. 💚

To all the OCD therapists out there — what would YOU add to this list? Drop your most-used phrase in the comments! 👇

💚 It’s OCD Awareness Week! 💚

This week, the OCD Midwest Board is sharing why OCD awareness matters to us personally.

OCD is so much more than the stereotypes we see in movies, on social media, and in everyday conversations. Awareness can mean earlier recognition, better access to specialized treatment, less stigma, and—most importantly—helping people realize that they are not alone.

So, we asked our board members: Why is OCD awareness important to you? 🧠💚

Over the next few days, we’ll be sharing their answers, stories, and reasons for continuing to advocate for the OCD community.

Because awareness isn’t just about knowing what OCD is.
It’s about making sure people with OCD are seen, understood, and supported.

💚 It’s OCD Awareness Week!

This week, the OCD Midwest Board is sharing a little bit of our own experiences with OCD and why raising awareness matters so much to us.

OCD can look different for everyone, and behind every diagnosis is a real person with their own story, struggles, and experiences.

Throughout the week, you’ll be hearing from our board members about what OCD awareness means to them, why representation matters, and what they want others to know about OCD.

Today, we’re introducing our Advocacy Chair Amber Young MA, LMHC💚

Amber is important. Their story is important. Their experiences are valuable. And so are YOU.

Because OCD awareness isn’t just about understanding a disorder—it’s about making sure people feel seen, understood, and less alone.

Follow along this week to hear from more of our board members and help us spread awareness! 🫶
