This week, Cynthia from Canton received a new wheelchair ramp, making her home safer and giving her more freedom. We are grateful for the chance to help, and we know God is working through our community to care for those in need.

Right now, we need more aluminum wheelchair ramps to keep helping others in Stark County. If you or someone you know has a used ramp, please consider donating or selling it to us. All removal and pickup are free, and your gift will bless many more people waiting for this life-changing equipment.

This week, our dedicated volunteers traveled to Canton to help a homeowner in need. The basement steps were cracked, and the handrail was loose, creating a real risk of falls and injury. Our team repaired the steps and secured the handrail, bringing peace of mind and renewed safety to the household. Through our partnership with the American Red Cross of Northern Ohio, we were also able to install two new fire alarms, offering further protection and reassurance. We are once again grateful that God provided the resources, willing hands, and partnerships to make this possible.

Balance is a daily challenge for John, and after experiencing repeated falls, it was clear that a wheelchair ramp would be life-changing for him. This installation marks the eighteenth ramp provided by our Ramps & Rails division since it began operating from its own storage facility, bringing the current total to over 63 ramps in circulation throughout Stark County. Each ramp remains our property, allowing us to repurpose and recycle these vital resources to serve even more individuals in urgent need. Our next ramp will be installed next week, and two more are currently in process.

These ramps are more than just equipment; they are essential tools for safety, independence, and dignity, empowering seniors and individuals with disabilities to remain in their homes and live fuller lives. The demand continues to grow, and your advocacy ensures that we never run out of this life-changing inventory. Safety and health-related home repairs are a priority for Hammer & Nails mission, and Volunteers Al and Tom made a special trip back to Canton to help finish up a project for one of our homeowners. They noticed the side steps needed some extra care, so they took the time to remove the loose, non-compliant handrail and secured the deck boards and treads for added safety. By adding blocking to the lower steps and anchoring a new handrail with sturdy fasteners, they made sure the steps are now safer and easier for the homeowner to use. As a finishing touch, they scraped and painted the deck and steps with paint provided by the homeowner. Their thoughtful work not only made the home safer but also showed just how much we care about the comfort and well-being of our neighbors.

Our volunteers were excited to try out our new paint sprayer, and it worked beautifully, saving us so much time! Together, they prepped the garage and carefully covered all the windows and doors. Flek, our new master painter, skillfully used about 6 gallons of paint and finished the white trim around the garage door. Al made sure everything was protected, so only a little touch-up was needed. We’re looking forward to coming back soon and wrapping things up!

We are truly grateful and blessed to have celebrated our 22nd Annual Golf Outing with so many incredible golfers, sponsors, and friends. God provided us with beautiful weather, a stunning course, and the joy of coming together in community. The new golf carts were a big hit, and AVI Foodsystems delicious food, along with the sweet treat of cookies from Buehler's, made the day extra special. Congratulations to our closest to the pin winner with 5’1’’ and to our first-place foursome, ProVia Team One, with a score of 59; second place went to Apple Creek Bank with 60.

A heartfelt thank you to our Master Craftsman Sponsors, First Financial Bank and ProVia, and to every sponsor, donor, board member, golf committee member, volunteer, staff member, and the entire Spring Valley Golf Course and Event Center team. Your generosity, service, and dedication are a beautiful reflection of God’s love in action. Together, by His grace, we are making a lasting and meaningful difference in Stark County.

Our volunteers were back in Alliance, supported by the Greater Alliance Foundation, to help a couple facing the daily challenge of unsafe and non-compliant steps. Understanding how important safe access to their home is, our team worked thoughtfully, keeping the same basic layout, carefully cutting the stringers, and assembling each part. Special attention went into the finishing touches and constructing two gates to close off the previously non-compliant openings. These new gates are easy to open in an emergency, giving peace of mind, and they also allow the homeowners to safely enjoy time outdoors with their beloved pet. Our volunteers were honored to play a part in making daily life safer and more comfortable for this family.

Tomorrow, Friday, July 10th, we are thrilled to kick off our 22nd Annual Golf Outing at the beautiful, family-owned and operated Spring Valley Golf Course and Event Center! We are so excited and deeply grateful for the incredible support from both new and longtime faith-filled sponsors and participants. It is truly a blessing to witness so many generous hearts coming together to give back to their neighbors in need.

Check-in is from 8 to 9, and we’ll have a shotgun start at 9. We can’t wait to see you on the green, celebrate your generosity, and share in the excitement and impact of this special day!
