Our team of passionate volunteers creates beautiful, genuine portraits that showcase each pet’s unique personality—off

ering a view far different from the scared or anxious faces they wear in a kennel. Since our founding, we’ve helped hundreds of pets put their best paw forward, connecting them with loving families. Our mission goes beyond just photography; we partner with other nonprofits to promote their adoptable pets and amplify their efforts. We believe that only by working together can we truly tackle pet homelessness in our community. Thank you for helping us continue this important work! Do you like spending hot summer days outside? The hotter, the better? Days out gardening, walking, soaking up the sun?? ☀️ Neither does JJ! This guy is heat sensitive and overheats quickly - so if you prefer to stay inside with windows closed and A/C cranked, he’s your guy! He has been waiting 200 days today for a home that will love him back 🥺

JJ’s theme song would be “you’re my best friend” - because everyone is his best friend! He is such a happy guy despite his horrific past. When he arrived, he was emaciated, full of scabs in various forms of healing, and missing fur. His spirit was sad and broken. As he started to heal, he showed the true resilience of dogs - never angry at humans. Honestly, is the happiest when he is with volunteers and playing. He is said to be housebroken and seems to like other dogs.

JJ is ready to move out of the shelter and into a loving home. As always, please bring all family members to meet him (cats in a hard carrier) to make sure he’s the perfect fit. 🧩

Every dog comes with donated, free training sessions with local trainers: Cosmic K9 (2 sessions) and Hoperidge RTA (1 session). Adopters should research post-adoption decompression and the rule of 3s: 3 days to decompress, 3 weeks to learn your routine and 3 months to start to feel at home..

The Shelter Pet Studio is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit run by volunteers, independent from the shelters we assist. SPS writes bios based on our experience with a pet and are not making guarantees. We are not involved in adoption processes. To inquire, contact Stark County Sheriff’s Office - Dog Warden Division at 1801 Mahoning Road NE, Canton, OH 44705 or call (330) 451-2343. Hunter is a happy dude so ready for adventure!! 🐶 He comes out hot right from the kennel but after some mental stimulation and exercise, he settles in and shows his sweetness. Hunter is very housebroken, meaning he holds himself for long hours until he gets outside. 🚽

Hunter seems to enjoy the company of other canines which would definitely help with his energy. 🏃 He doesn’t enjoy long hours in the kennel - he has things to do and see! He is treat motivated which will help with his training and focus. He is looking for an active family and he has the cutest face 🥰

If you are interested in Hunter, bring all family members to meet him. Dogs on leash, cat in a hard carrier.

Carnation is ready to bloom! 🌺

Calling all the ladies 💅🏼 As beautiful as her name suggests, Carnation 💐 is a gentle, loving girl who is seeking a female-centric home. While she doesn’t seem to like male humans, she definitely has potential with dogs - male and female 😆 During her walk, she was slow and gentle on leash, preferring to sniff all the smells. Although she is listed at 2 years old, she acts like an old soul. ❤️

Carnation arrived at the shelter scared and worried. She is starting to bloom and getting braver each day. She loves to give gentle kisses to her friends and enjoys her time out of her kennel. 😘 She has potential to be housebroken and with her love of treats, she will be easy to train.

If you are interested in Carnation, please bring all family members in - dogs on leash, cats in a hard carrier - to make sure everyone is happy ❤️

🚨Vanna needs an adopter or foster home ASAP 🚨

Vanna is ready to Gogh! Vanna (fka Salt) originally came to Stark County Dog Warden as a puppy in August of last year with her sister. She was chosen to participate in classes for Tri-C students to practice on and after the program, dogs are available to be adopted. Due to her shyness, no one chose her. 😔 She ended up back at the shelter when Kermit’s Kritters stepped in to pull her into their rescue. ❤️

Now Vanna needs a home. She is considered special needs as she has a birth defect that affects her ear. Due to this defect, she tends to spin but it isn’t causing other issues. She doesn’t seem to want to fully potty train so she’s going to be best for someone home most of the time. 😆 She doesn’t like chaos of kids so will need a quiet, child-free home. She does, however, enjoy the company of the other dogs in her foster home. We know she may be tough to place but she is cute as a button and we’re calling her a Teacup Irish Wolfhound. 😂 She is about 1 year old now and 33 pounds. She absolutely loves tennis balls 🎾

If you can foster or are interested in adopting Vanna, please contact Kermit’s Kritters ASAP.

🆘 There are 3 dogs needing out NOW 🆘
🚨PLEASE SHARE 🚨

Murph, CJ and Union are struggling with the long kennel hours. They have too much energy to be locked up 23 hours of the day. They will all need active and patient homes to decompress from the shelter stress. Time is of the essence for these pups. Please consider adopting ❤️

Murph has been passed around homes until he found himself in doggy jail. No one came to claim him and he has now been waiting 57 days for someone to say “he’s the one!” He loves walks, treats, knows basic commands and loves to use his brain on treat puzzles. He comes out hot but after about 15 minutes, he will calm down and focus. He will need grace to give him that time. He is approximately 2 years old and 50 pounds.

CJ is just now starting to get antsy in the kennel. He still listens with a firm “no” and can walk nicely if continuing to move forward. He will need an active home or a big backyard to run and fetch. He loves squeaky toys and is very loving once he gets some of that energy out. He is a young guy looking for a fun home full of adventure. He is approximately 1 year old and 40 pounds.

Union is a cattle dog that is all done spending long days in a kennel. Cattle dogs were made for running and herding on a farm! She is a young gal that isn’t getting the exercise or mental stimulation she needs. She came in with her sister and they have been waiting a long time to be adopted. While they like each other, they do not need to be adopted together. She has been showing some issues with other dogs, so a meet n greet is definitely needed. She is a jumping bean and would absolutely love a “job”. She is approximately 1 year old and 40 pounds.

PLEASE REMEMBER: Every dog comes with donated, FREE training sessions with local trainers: Cosmic K9 (2 sessions) and Hoperidge RTA (1 session).
