Hey everyone, the Rye of the Tiger fundraiser has now come to a close. THANK YOU to everyone who helped facilitate donations, and also to all the Tiger fans who made this a huge success! If anyone still has paper order forms outstanding, please get with Ben Liebermann or another Booster Club member so they can be added to the final order for New Riff.

This has blown past our best expectations. So much so, that we had to secure a 2nd barrel of whiskey from the distillery! The barrel selection takes place on March 12th, and we’ll have the label designed available to be shared shortly afterwards. Bottles will be ready about 30 days after that. When we receive them, we’ll be setting up a pick-up day where bottles can be received. For all others, we’ll be making arrangements to get them their bottles. Thursday night was one of the greatest nights in the history of our city! No matter how you came to love this place, if you consider yourself a Tiger, it was a moment for the ages. Our young men made all of us proud and came home from Tom Benson Stadium as CHAMPIONS.

Emotions have been flooding the city and with Tiger fans across the country ever since. It’s because Massillon Tiger Football is generational. Older generations teach the current generation. The current generation inspires the next generation. Thursday night the older generations witnessed something they’ve been hoping to see for decades. And the effort of our current generation will undoubtedly inspire the kids who were in the stands and showed them why this is the City of Champions.

The Massillon Tiger Endowment Fund was established to help keep that going. Please consider a donation or share with someone who may be interested. Funding from the endowment will be used towards football operations to help make sure this great program of ours continues for generation after generation. This is long term planning. After many long years the Tigers are champions again! Help us usher in a new era of championship football in Massillon. Go Tigers!

Thursday is going to be a great day for the City of Massillon, Washington High School, alumni across the country, our coaching staff, and most especially our kids!

That feeling we all have this week is one that we want to keep having for years and years to come. The Tuesday after Thanksgiving is the National Day of Giving, and as this week continues to inch closer to our State Championship game, please consider a contribution to the Massillon Tiger Football Endowment Fund. Our community is unique, special, and one of a kind…and it takes constant work to maintain and improve. The Endowment aims to ensure that moments like these last for generations. You can help and be a part of leaving a lasting legacy that will help carry Tiger football on for ages.

You won’t find a place like this anywhere else. Help preserve and improve upon it. Thursday is coming and whether you’ll be in Tom Benson Stadium, or one of the many thousands of out of state Tiger fans watching, it’s going to be a night all of us will remember.

We received a very nice donation recently made in honor of the 1972 Tigers and the coaching staffs of ‘70, ‘71, and ‘72. Those teams went 10-0, 8-2, and 10-1 with the 3 losses by a combined 5 points. Those teams were led by the legendary Bob Commings and that class will be celebrating their 50th year reunion at the St. Ed’s game.

As tax time approaches, please keep the endowment fund in mind. The fund is held through the Stark Community Foundation, a charitable 501c3 and donations are tax deductible. (Please consult your tax professional with questions about your particular situation.) Not to mention, our aim is to help ensure the continuation of Tiger football for generations! There’s no off-season in Tigertown and your donation leaves a legacy that will last for ages. Go Tigers!

We are at the 1 Year Anniversary of the establishment of this fund and we’d like to give a big thank you to those who have helped get this off the ground. This first year has surpassed all expectations and this long term project is well on its way to establishing a solid foundation to support Tiger football for years to come.

We have received a half dozen contributions to the endowment from Tiger supporters over the past week and we couldn’t be more appreciative and thankful. This project is already on solid footing and off and running. The foundation being built is going to pay long term dividends down the road.

To reiterate, this endowment’s aim is to build financial stability for the program that ensures Massillon Football carries on for generations. Your contributions will help ensure that kids continue to have the same experiences that so many of us did growing up here, going to games, and being part of of this very unique thing we do. We are announcing the establishment of the Massillon Tiger Football Endowment Fund that has the aim of setting a financial foundation that is not as dependent on year to year fundraising and will ensure the continuation of Tiger Football for generations into the future. This is long term thinking and planning for the football program. The impacts of setting up a fund like this are not meant to be felt right now. This is about thinking of the needs of the program in 10, 20, 30, 40+ years. This program has been around for more than 125 years and this endowment will hopefully be a piece of ensuring there will be 125 more. We will be working on this over the long haul and we hope this will continue to grow and make a major impact on the program years down the road.

We have partnered with the Stark Community Foundation as custodian of the fund. The Stark Community Foundation is a 501c3 charitable organization and was established in 1963. They operate over 800 endowments and funds for organizations all over the area including United Way of Stark County, Walsh University, Massillon Museum, and the Boys and Girls Club of Massillon. We wanted an established partner that can handle all the financial aspects of this fund to maintain its success over the years.

We are kicking this off with a fundraising drive to put this in motion. We are happy to report thru a handful of private donations that the fund is already off to a great start. A contribution to this endowment will be support for the Tigers that will last for decades. A donation is considered to be charitable giving and can be made directly through the link below to the Stark Community Foundation and under the Massillon Tiger Football Endowment Fund.

Long before anyone who is reading this was born, the people of our town helped to build, grow, and maintain the best football program anywhere in the country. They put pieces in place that have lasted through decades. This endowment will hopefully be the next piece that all of us can put in place that will stand the test of time.
