Please be advised that in accordance with United States Public Law 103-332 and Presidential Proclamation, Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey has ordered that the United States of America flag and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts flag be lowered to half-staff at all state buildings from sunrise until sunset on Thursday, May 15, 2025, in honor of National Peace Officers Memorial Day.

This gubernatorial order applies to:

1. The main or administration building of each public institution of the Commonwealth, e.g. town and city halls.

2. Other state-owned or state-controlled buildings.

3. All state military installations.

This year the post is sponsoring a bone marrow registry drive in conjunction with the National Marrow Donor Program (NMDP).

The NMDP does vital work in ensuring that individuals with life-threatening blood and marrow cancers and diseases can receive the life sustaining treatment they need. Every year, 18,000 patients are diagnosed with life-threatening blood cancers or other blood disorders that could be cured or treated with a blood stem cell transplant. But 70% of them don't have a fully matched donor in their family. They depend on NMDP to find an unrelated donor.

By sponsoring a Bone Marrow Donor Registry Drive in 2025, Post #24 will be helping ensure that more individuals can get the life saving care they need. If you would like more information to participate in this effort, please contact me.

To register for the bone marrow registry you must be between the ages of 18-40. If you wish to sign up for the bone marrow donor registry, please use the below QR Code or you may or text CantonAL24 to 61474.

Once you register, they will have some additional questions for you and they will send you a free swab kit. If you are over age 40, although you may not be able to be placed on the Registry, there are other ways to be involved and we encourage you to use the code and they will provide you with more information. Our post will also be tabling at town events including the Heritage Festival and the Farmers Market on behalf of the NMDP.

Delahunt, who passed away, Saturday, March 30, 2024.

On the Anniversary of the End of Vietnam. Lets remember one of the many Heroes.

Marine Staff Sgt. Percy J. Price leads his platoon on an operation in Da Nang, Vietnam, in 1967. In 1960, Price defeated famed boxer Muhammad Ali, then-Cassius Clay, in the 1960 Olympic trials. A career Marine, Price remained in the Marine Corps instead of pursuing a professional boxing career. He went on to complete two tours in Vietnam. Photo: USMC
