Canton has received notice from Priority Waste that garbage, yard waste, and recycling collections may be delayed in the coming days due to poor air quality. They are closely monitoring conditions and will adjust operations as necessary to protect their crews while working to complete service as safely and efficiently as possible.

If your garbage, yard waste, and/or recycling is not collected on your regular collection day, please leave it at the curb until it is collected.

Join us for a resource fair hosted by Governor Whitmer’s office on Friday, May 15, from 12 – 2 p.m., in the Board Room of the Canton Administration Building, 1150 S. Canton Center Road. Staff from the Governor’s team will be present to share resources and chat with you about the issues that matter to you most. We will also be joined by State Representative Ranjeev Puri’s team, State Senator Dayna Polehanki’s team, the Department of Health and Human Services, the Unemployment Insurance Agency, Wayne Metro Community Action Agency, and others.

This year marks America’s semiquincentennial—the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. To commemorate this historic milestone, the U.S. Conference of Mayors (USCM) in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts are launching the America 250 City Art Poster Project.

Canton is looking forward to collaborating with local artists to create visual representations (posters) that celebrate local history and inspire hope for the future in honor of the semiquincentennial. Submissions can come from a range of artists, from children and youth in community arts programs to professional and amateur artists.

Every submission will be eligible for a chance to win a prize from Canton Township based on the artists’ age category. In addition, all entries will play an important role in this year’s Liberty Fest.
