Passover commemorates the liberation of the Israelites from slavery in ancient Egypt. Celebrated over eight days, the holiday begins with the Seder, a ritual meal during which families retell the story of the Exodus through readings, symbolic foods, and songs. Central themes of Passover include freedom, resilience, and gratitude. Many of its traditions such as eating matzah (unleavened bread) and avoiding leavened products, serve as reminders of the Israelites’ hurried departure from Egypt. Beyond honoring a foundational moment in Jewish history, Passover also invites reflection on the enduring importance of freedom and justice in every generation. From a Canton Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee perspective, we are reminded to welcome others with compassion, to uplift diverse voices, and to build communities rooted in understanding and respect.

May this season inspire us across traditions to deepen our faith, strengthen our connections, and continue the work of creating a more just and inclusive world for all. Wishing all who celebrate a blessed and meaningful Passover.

The Transgender Day of Visibility ( ) celebration was a meaningful moment of collaboration between First Parish Unitarian Universalist-Canton and CDEI.
The evening centered around 🎶 music through karaoke 🎶 featuring odes and powerful renditions that honored voices, stories, and lived experiences which have too often been marginalized.
Transgender Day of Visibility serves as both a celebration and a checkpoint. It recognizes the contributions and resilience of transgender individuals, while also challenging organizations, communities, and each of us to reflect on what we are doing - not just today, but consistently to create environments where transgender people can truly thrive.

Thank you to Evan Greer and to everyone who came out to celebrate TDOV. 🏳️‍⚧️
