Hello friends and family of Elaine Zils!

This year in June Laney would turn 70 and I’ll be turning 60 – yikes! I am planning a better than average installation of flags along Route 179 to mark this milestone for both of us. If you are interested in celebrating with us, you can do so by donating to the “Elaine Zils Memorial Flags” fund at Collinsville Bank. You can mail a check, payable to “Elaine Zils Memorial Flags” or stop by any of the branches and reference the account name.

Good Morning Canton People! The flags on Route 179 will be coming out soon. Thanks for all your donations and support. Reminder, if you see a flag that needs attention before the family can get to it, please send a message to Melissa Zils (860-269-8635). This effort is not through the Town of Canton; this is private and very personal.

We made a few flag repairs this week in time for Veterans Day. Please take a moment to thank anyone in uniform for their service, whenever and wherever you see them. All flags will be coming in for the winter after this weekend.

Have you seen the flags yet this year??? If not, you should soon. They are going up this weekend in time for the parade!!!

The flags have been prepped and delivered to the Scout Hall tonight. The boys and the Leaders will be putting the flags out in the morning; please watch for them and pass slowly if you are driving along Route 179 early Saturday morning.

Remember the fallen & their families this Memorial Day. Honor those who have so honored us.

Have a safe and meaningful holiday!

As the flag season comes to a close, we brought in many worn and tattered flags today. There are a few that are still in good shape which will stay up until after Veterans Day. After that day all the flags will come in for the winter. Please find the time to thank a veteran, write a letter, or maybe visit/donate to the VA hospital near you. I am so thankful to the people in our family, community, and country who have served and sacrificed. Thank you to all the folks who have donated to the flag fund. Wishing you a safe and joyful holiday season!
