Happy Gotcha day to Loki and Rallis. Libby’s Haven opened the door to take in these 2 special seniors one year ago. In October 2024, we were contacted by a fellow-rescuer who we’ve worked with for years when seniors Loki (13) and Rallis (12) tragically lost their life-long doggy parents in flooding during Hurricane Helene. Their wonderful foster caregivers, Debbie and Jennifer, traveled all the way from NC to NH to ensure safe travels arriving on November 8 with this precious cargo. We are forever grateful to Rusty’s Legacy for taking them into rescue, Jennifer and Debbie for fostering and transporting, and Crystal for contacting Libby’s about these sweet and deserving girls. Hoping for many more gotcha day celebrations with them.💕

Thank you to everyone who has supported Libby's over the years—by adopting a senior, making a donation, or by spreading the word about how wonderful older dogs are.

We have had to make the difficult decision not to take in any more dogs for the foreseeable future. We aren't sure if we are closing the door forever so, for now, we will close the door but leave a window open. Please continue to support adoption for older dogs! Thank you.

NOVEMBER IS ADOPT A SENIOR PET MONTH!

Please consider giving a home to one of our very deserving “seniors”. If you can’t adopt please help them by SHARING!!

We are looking for a special family to adopt two very special senior kitties....

Read more about them below 👇🏻

These brothers came into our care because their mom had to move...they are 11 and 12 years young and have lived together their ENTIRE LIFE. We are looking for someone who will adopt them as the adorable, sweet, loving, pair that they are!

Orion (black and white long hair)
Sampson (grey tabby/coon mix who is polydactyl)
** they are declawed, this was done prior to being surrender to us. We DO NOT agree with declawing cats**

These gentlemen are so sweet and laid back! Orion is more of an observer but he will brush against your leg for attention, sit next to you on the couch, and he will most certainly let you know when the food or water bowl is empty😸🤣! Sampson will seek out attention and affection, and loves to be loved on. Don’t let their age fool you, they can still be playful and they absolutely LOVE CAT NIP!!!

They are GREAT with other cats, good with dogs and would be very gentle with respectful kids. We are looking for a relatively quiet home with lots of sunny windows and a family to spoil them for the rest of their days. They would do fine in an active home with other animals and kids as long as they have plenty of quiet space they can retreat to, they are old men and deserve that.😸

Both boys need daily medication, long term. Hey, it comes with age...we all end up with that weekly pill organizer at some point don’t we?! 🤪

💊 Sampson has hyperthyroidism which is a common disease in cats, and mostly afflicts cats middle-aged and older. hyperthyroidism is caused by an increase in production of thyroid hormones (known as T3 and T4) from an enlarged thyroid gland in a cat's neck. This is easily treated with one small pill given twice. Sampson is a champ about taking his pill in a pill pocket treat!

💉 Orion is diabetic. I know we said it...that word - it sounds so scary but don’t let it frighten you! It is EASILY TREATED with two tiny pokes twice a day that Orion is SO GOOD about. We give it to him while he is eating and he doesn’t even notice! Orion gets 4 units of insulin twice a day and eats a strict diet of Hills WD which Sampson can eat too!

You could say these boys have many strikes against them, seniors, bonded, and medical needs but we will show them that they are furever cats and they there is a family out there for them. A family who will see how special and sweet they are and not be scared off by their minimal medical needs.

THEY ARE:

✅ 11 and 12 years young
✅ Neutered
✅ Up to date on vaccines
✅ Microchipped
✅ Litter box trained
✅ GREAT with other cats, dogs and kids!
✅ Declawed **this was done prior to being surrender to us. We DO NOT agree with declawing cats**
✅ Adoption fee= $150
✅ First month of medication and food provided!

When adopting a dog, many people are drawn to puppies and young dogs, but a large number of the dogs at shelters are actually considered seniors. Dogs typically become a senior at around 7 or 8 years old, but it depends on the size of the dog because large dogs …
