From mountain headwaters to prairie streams to creeks in town, water quality monitoring is happening all across Colorado! Every sample collected helps tell the story of our rivers, lakes, and watersheds—providing valuable data that supports conservation, restoration, and informed water management decisions.
Thanks to our RiverCorps members that collect date for River Watch everywhere they go.

Water work with a side of fun!

Purgatoire Watershed Partnership members Eli and Hailey Jo teamed up with Colorado Parks and Wildlife Aquatics staff and Trinidad Lake State Park to get out in the field recently! Together, they installed conductivity sensors and incorporated River Watch sampling to help monitor and better understand the health of our waterways.

Science, teamwork, and stewardship all in one day — exactly the kind of collaboration that keeps our rivers thriving!

Last week, Eliza with River Network and River Watch headed to San Antonio for the annual River Rally conference!

Water advocates from across the country came together for learning sessions, peer exchanges, and meaningful conversations focused on strengthening collective action for healthy rivers and clean water. From sharing ideas to building new connections, the energy and collaboration were inspiring.

And of course — they made time for a little fun on the San Antonio River, too! 🌊

Happy Earth Day from RiverCorps! 🌎💙🌊

Today we celebrate the rivers, streams, wetlands, and watersheds that connect our communities and sustain life across Colorado. Every day, our AmeriCorps members are out in the field restoring river health, improving water quality, monitoring ecosystems, and helping protect these vital natural resources for future generations.

Protection starts right here at home — in the rivers that run through our towns and the creeks we explore.

Here’s to healthy rivers, thriving ecosystems, and the people working to protect them. 💧🌿

From headwaters to confluence 🌊

Last week’s field views took our member, Jacob and the across some incredible watersheds in southern Colorado. During a River Watch demonstration with the Custer County Conservation District — a great opportunity to share hands-on water quality monitoring and watershed education in the field.

Every reach of the stream tells part of the story, from mountain headwaters to downstream confluences, and it’s always exciting to see science, stewardship, and community come together.

Out in the field and making waves! 🎣💧

Leah & Alivia spent the day at Rifle Gap Reservoir teaming up with Colorado Parks & Wildlife for some hands-on fish surveying. From collecting fish to gathering water samples, they’re helping monitor for PFAS and better understand what’s happening beneath the surface.

Science in action + a pretty great view = not a bad day on the job!

Our member Alex has found his home for the season with Friends of the Yampa!
Here’s to a season of learning, growth, and keeping rivers wild and thriving. 💧

What an exciting spring for FOTY!

We would also like to welcome our next RiverCorps member, Alex Faulk!

Hailing from Louisville, Kentucky, he has served with American Conservation Experience and AmeriCorps NCCC Forest Corps to help protect and restore federal and state lands. When out of the office, you’ll most likely find Alex running (more like crawling) up the Lane of Pain trail, playing pick-up soccer or lounging at Charlie’s Hole (he plans to get his feet wet next week!). Alex will be serving as FOTY’s Watershed Health Coordinator and is super stoked and grateful to be here.
