Rainbow trail is one of our favorites for equestrian to ride in the wet mountain sangres de Christo area near westcliffe. The atvs and hikers are always so courteous. It is a fsntastic area.if you're riding this weekend they are still noting trees down. Rmbch has not had a chance to clear some of the upper wilderness trails off of the rainbow yet. So it will be beautiful. UT you may still encounter blowdown or impassable areas. We hope you have a great memorial day weekend. Send us an update if you're on a trail out there!

๐ŸŒˆ๐Ÿ”๏ธATVs and the Rainbow Trail!
Conditions on the Rainbow Trail are variable from Lake Creek Campground all the way to Grape Creek/Music Pass. You might find spots with soft edges from previous runoff, downed trees, full creek crossings, and generally tricky travel for ATVs. We urge CAUTION and slow speeds as you travel the trail this holiday weekend. Have fun and be safe out there! Trails for All

May 2,3,4 Salida CO - FREE to RBMCH members. Chainsaw/saywer training and certification. For all levels, beginner to expert.
What: We will have the ability to train and certify all levels of sawyers, A, B, C, and all will be done by certified BCHA certified trainers! You must be present for at least the first 2 days. First day will be learning and teaching, second will be testing. Active CPR Certification is required.

Who: All levels from beginner to expert. You will receive training and then testing.

Hands down this is a fantastic course and covers so much more than saw work. It teaches you how to be safe while working in the back-country and how to keep others safe. This is why it is a requirement for RMBCH work leaders and for the FS. We wish every member had this training!

To RVSP or ask questions - contact us. Or best of all - Join us! for the 2025 trail year and get this training and more for free. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSf-INFQ6rTx_7o_rHr70-r8-E1C0JBkUjL7cBNTTbJqTFiOBg/viewform

Calling All Trailblazers: RMBCH Needs You!
๐ŸŽ๐Ÿซ๐ŸŒฒ๐ŸŒต๐Ÿ’š๐ŸŒต๐ŸŒฒ๐Ÿซ๐ŸŽ

The future of Rocky Mountain Back Country Horsemen depends on passionate individuals who believe in preserving and improving our trails. After 8 years of service, Iโ€™ve seen how rewardingโ€”and challengingโ€”our mission can be. While weโ€™ve made strides, we must focus on education to preserve trails for all users. Without it, we risk losing access altogether. Education, inclusivity, and proactive outreach are the keys to protecting what we love.

To ensure RMBCH thrives, we desperately need fresh voices and leaders to serve on the board and advocate for positive change and education. Join the chapter to keep equestrians at the forefront of trail stewardship. Together, you CAN create a brighter future for all equestrians!

Despite these challenges, Iโ€™m proud of what I accomplished and deeply grateful to the handful of you who fully supported me along this journey with RMBCH. Now itโ€™s time for me to move on and focus on new opportunities for growth and change. To all who believe in a brighter, more inclusive future for trails and equestrians, I hope youโ€™ll continue to advocate for progress. Even if all you do is teach a young rider trail etiquette, you are helping the cause immensely. This journey toward a better future mirrors the one Iโ€™ve experiencedโ€ฆ

Living my childhood dream of horses and breathtaking trailsโ€”what a ride, Colorado! It is because of RMBCH that I have been able to chase that dream. Riding in places my younger self could only imagine shows how far you can go when you truly love the journey.

Follow your passion, always.

Coloradoโ€™s 11th largest snowstorm made it difficult to ride, but we were still able to educate lots of young equestrians about low impact ultralight trail riding and camping. Peter spent the morning talking about how he loads his horses for cross-country treks, spending about 60% of the time walking. He showed us how he sets up a minimalist campsite, and what he brings along to stay safe. We learned how fear can be a useful tool in the back country, while being a confidence and kind leader is important to your horse.
